Job Description

Job Description:

We are now looking for an Aerostructures IT Project Manager to onboard our GBS in Lisbon.

Responsibilities - your mission

As an IT Project Manager, you will be fully accountable for the successful end-to-end delivery of complex IT projects for Airbus Aerostructures. You will lead and manage projects, ensuring they meet their time, cost, and quality objectives. Your projects will range from the introduction and deployment of new software applications, bespoke developments, and IT infrastructure rollouts (e.g., providing LAN/WIFI for new facilities) to major upgrades of backbone systems like SAP and PLM.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Project Leadership & Lifecycle Management: Lead the project from the initial concept and business case through to final deployment and handover. You will act as the single point of accountability for the project's success, managing all internal and external resources and project interfaces.
  • Project Planning & Governance: Define, establish, and manage the complete project plan (WBS, schedule, resources) and project governance. This includes the planning and execution of key governance gates and milestone reviews in line with business requirements.
  • Quality & Compliance Management: Drive a culture of quality-driven delivery and ensure the project is executed in full compliance with all internal IT quality management standards and processes. You are responsible for ensuring all project documentation is complete, auditable, and maintained.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Management: Act as the primary liaison and partner for all project stakeholders, including business customers, IT teams, and senior management. You will manage customer expectations and ensure the project's customer focus by translating business requirements into effective IT solutions.
  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Proactively identify, assess, and manage all project risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities. You will be expected to drive mitigation strategies and proactively escalate to secure timely resolutions, ensuring no critical blockages.
  • Budget & Supplier Management: Take full responsibility for defining, forecasting, and controlling the project budget. You will lead IT procurement activities, manage supplier relations, and ensure adherence to Statements of Work (SoW).
  • Service Transition Management: Lead and plan the project's transition into live operation. This includes managing the integration planning, ensuring operational readiness, and overseeing the establishment of ITIL-based L2 support structures.
  • Project Reporting & Controlling: Manage all project controlling and reporting, providing clear, concise, and accurate status updates on quality, costs, and deadlines to governance bodies and senior management.

Requirements - our ideal candidate will have

  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years of proven professional experience in leading and managing complex IT projects, covering the full lifecycle from initiation to closure.
  • Methodologies:
  • Strong, practical knowledge of traditional project management methodologies; PMI (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrable experience in applying Agile methodologies (Scrum, Scaled Agile/SAFe); certifications (e.g., Scrum Master) are highly desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of IT service management frameworks; ITIL certification is a significant plus.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise IT landscapes, including applications (e.g., SAP, PLM), software development lifecycles, and/or IT infrastructure (e.g., networks, servers).
  • Expert proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence) and standard office suites.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, high resilience, and assertiveness. You are a strong negotiator and communicator with proven experience in managing senior stakeholders, complex dependencies, and project teams.
  • Languages: Business & technical fluent English is mandatory; German is desirable.

Benefits - what’s in it for you

  • Diverse career opportunities within Airbus European core countries or in other regions around the world.
  • A hybrid working model, allowing you to combine onsite and offsite work.
  • A modern office, well connected to public transportation.
  • A motivated and fun crew to grow and build and shape the GBS together.
  • An intense and exciting onboarding experience.
  • Be part of our Project Management pool: Join our network of PM professionals who are deeply invested in providing great services, upskilling and sharing their knowledge. You will have the opportunity to learn and to participate in projects that are defining the future of aerospace.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
