What You’ll Build
The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship; it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.
Position title: SAP Privacy & Compliance Center of Excellence iXp Thesis Intern (f/m/d) - Project & Communications Management Support
Location: Walldorf, Germany
Internship duration: 6 months
Project Scope and Deliverables
Drive Innovation & AI Compliance
- Contribute to strategic and operational initiatives to enable innovative IT solutions (e.g. Internal System Anonymization or Contact Interest Intelligence) in a compliant way
- Explore emerging AI and digital innovation topics while supporting their implementation from a data protection and compliance perspective
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Help drive transparency by analyzing compliance use cases and presenting insights to relevant stakeholders
- Support stakeholders by preparing and sharing meaningful reports for project milestones (e.g. test execution report) and the latest compliance-related information
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate on cross-team projects, acting as a bridge between SAP’s internal IT stakeholders and the Data Protection Office
- Gain insights into how SAP translates strategic initiatives into operational solutions across applications and platforms
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support the planning, execution, and follow-up of expert meetings and workshops
- Contribute to team and project communication activities, including coordinating Privacy Awareness initiatives and maintaining communication channels (e.g. newsletters and SharePoint)
Take full ownership of your own topics and proactively drive them forward.
Business Impact
This role sits at the intersection of data protection and innovation - a critical area as SAP scales AI and digital solutions internally. The intern's (f/m/d) work directly supports SAP's ability to supporting internal projects. Contributions to compliance transparency (through stakeholder reporting and analysis) help decision-makers move faster with confidence.

The mission of the Privacy & Compliance CoE is to be the trusted partner for secure and compliant solutions, proactively guiding our internal customers through data protection and privacy, export control and EU access regulations.

Learning Opportunities
The intern (f/m/d) will develop a practical skill set across several dimensions:
- Compliance and data protection: Hands-on exposure to GDPR application in real projects
- AI governance: Understanding how emerging AI and digital innovation topics are evaluated and implemented responsibly
- Stakeholder communication: Experience preparing reports, facilitating expert meetings, and contributing to newsletters and SharePoint communications
- Project management: End-to-end involvement in compliance use cases, from analysis through reporting and stakeholder engagement
- AI model exploration: Practical exposure to evaluating and working with different AI models, building the skills to integrate AI capabilities responsibly into compliance, governance, and innovation projects
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who takes the initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.
- Preferred fields of study: Studies of business administration, business informatics, media design or adjacent disciplines
- Mandatory IT skills: Microsoft Office, Adobe Software as a plus
- Language skills: Fluent in English is essential to deal with virtual and international teams, German is a plus
- Interest in IT, Compliance and Project Management topics
- You should be an excellent team player with strong abilities to network and to work independently by using analytical and problem-solving skills and your willingness to learn quickly
