Cahill Design Consultants Ltd
Experts in Acoustic Design & Fire Engineering
CDC is a specialist acoustic design and fire engineering consultancy. We work on technically complex, high-impact projects across the UK and internationally - from major mixed-use developments to heritage restorations and we've been doing it since 2014.
We're a small team, which means the work is varied, the responsibility is real, and the people around you actually matter. Whether you're just starting out or bringing serious experience to the table, you'll find a place here where your contribution is visible and your development is taken seriously.
We've been Flexa Verified three years running, and were named Best Place to Work at the CN Workforce Awards. Both of those recognitions come from our own team - not from anything we wrote about ourselves.

Built around you
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all career paths. Everyone who joins CDC gets a genuine conversation about where they want to go and what support will actually get them there — not a standard programme they're slotted into.
For graduates, that means real project involvement from the start, guided development without being micromanaged, and early responsibility that actually accelerates growth. For experienced professionals, it means your expertise is respected, your ideas have a direct route to the people who make decisions, and there's room to evolve your role as you do.
We invest in professional development seriously. Every member of the team has dedicated paid study time each month, funded CPD, support through chartership with the IOA, IFE and other professional bodies, and access to funded qualifications - from diplomas to master's degrees. We also invest in leadership development, because we know the quality of someone's working life is shaped more than anything else by the quality of the person who manages them.
Joining CDC at a senior level means joining a company that's actively building its future — and we're looking for people who want to help shape that.
We offer experienced consultants genuine commercial involvement: the chance to lead client relationships, build technical specialisms, and contribute to how we grow.
We support chartership through ICE, RICS, CIBSE and APS, and our 12 paid study days reflect how seriously we take professional development at every level. Senior hires have access to mentorship, cross-disciplinary exposure, and the kind of proximity to leadership that simply isn't possible in a larger firm.
This isn't a role where you execute someone else's vision. It's one where yours matters.
Progression at CDC isn't measured against a rigid framework. It's a real conversation, shaped around you, your work, and where you want to go. We think that's more honest than a checklist.
Culture at Cahill Design Consultants Ltd
CDC was built around the idea that people do their best work when they're trusted to manage it themselves. That wasn't a response to a pandemic or a shift in industry thinking — it's been the foundation of how we've operated since the beginning, long before flexible working became something companies felt pressure to offer.
What that looks like in practice is a team that works hybrid as standard, sets its own rhythm around core hours, and doesn't have to justify how it manages its time. Overtime is logged and compensated paid or taken back as TOIL, because we think the kind of culture where extra effort quietly disappears is bad for everyone. If you're the sort of person who works well with autonomy and doesn't need to be micromanaged to do good work, you'll feel at home here pretty quickly.
It also means, perhaps unsurprisingly, that CDC works well for people with full lives outside of work. Parents in particular tend to thrive here; not because we've engineered it that way, but because a culture built on genuine trust and realistic expectations naturally makes space for real life.
Flexible working is available to all staff as a default, not a formal request. That distinction matters: when flexibility requires justification, the social cost falls disproportionately on carers and women. We've removed that barrier deliberately.
Our parental leave policies were redesigned because we looked at the gender pay data in our sector and decided we could do better. We offer enhanced leave for all parents, regardless of how their family is structured.
Beyond the working patterns, the culture is genuinely collaborative and low on ego. We're a small team working on complex, interesting problems, and the best outcomes come from people thinking together rather than in silos. There are no layers to navigate, no internal politics to manage - just a group of technically strong people who are straightforward to work with and invested in each other's success.
We're proud of what we've built, and we're still working to do better.
