Providing rewarding career journeys is incredibly important to us and we want to make sure all Trainliners can thrive, grow and achieve their career goals.
At Trainline, our learning and development offerings are industry-leading and available to you from day one. You’ll be provided with the tools you need to develop your skills and supercharge your career.
In this blog, we’re spotlighting the initiatives that make growth and learning a core part of life at Trainline. Here are some of the amazing initiatives we offer.
🤩 Development programmes & workshops
Every career journey is unique, and so are the opportunities we offer. Our tailored programmes and workshops are designed to meet the diverse needs of our Trainliners across all roles, levels, and teams.
No matter where you are in your career, there’s a programme to help you reach your next milestone at Trainline!
⭐ Internal mobility & promotions
We’re committed to helping our people grow and develop from within. Internal mobility isn’t just encouraged - it’s a core part of our culture. We believe career progression should be transparent, accessible, and supported, ensuring that every Trainliner has the opportunity to thrive in their journey. Here’s how we support internal mobility and career progression:
🧑🤝🧑 Mentorship
Sometimes the most valuable lessons come from the people around us. That’s why we created Mentor Me, our mentorship programme that connects over 250 Trainliners across different departments and levels.
But don’t just take our word for it… Rakesh from our Tech Team shared:
“Mentoring has helped me build more confidence in myself and in my role as a Team Lead. I’ve gained tools to improve my communication, presentation, and delegation skills. I’ve even volunteered to be a mentor now, so I can give back what I’ve learned from my mentee journey.”

💡 Learning days
Balancing day-to-day work with personal development can be challenging. That’s why we introduced quarterly Learning Days - dedicated, no-meeting days focused entirely on development.
These days give our Trainliners the time and space to:
It’s a chance to pause, reflect, and invest in development without distractions. Check out some of our fave moments from past Learning Days below! ⬇️

💸 Learning budget
We know how important it is to invest in personal growth, which is why every Trainliner gets £300 (or the euro equivalent) each year to put towards their development. Whether its online courses, learning a new language to connect with Trainliners across our international offices, or picking up a few books, we’re here to support our Trainliners in growing the skills that matter most.
In fact, one of our Trainliners recently used their Learning Budget to brush up on their French before relocating from our London office to a secondment in our Paris office – a great way to prepare for the next adventure! 🇫🇷
💻 Learning express
At Trainline, we believe growth never stops. That’s why we’ve created Learning Express – the ultimate hub for development.
Packed with lots of online content and courses, it’s designed to let Trainliners learn at their own pace, whenever it suits them. Regularly updated with fresh insights from our very own Learning & Development team, as well as the latest trends and resources from external experts, it ensures everyone stays ahead and keeps growing.
👨✈️ Learning Conductors
We believe in the power of learning from others, which is why Trainliners can become Learning Conductors – a network of passionate employees across various departments, locations, and levels. By collaborating with our Learning & Development Team, Learning Conductors play a key role in shaping and driving our learning culture, creating an environment where knowledge and growth are shared across the business.
Whatever stage you’re at in your career, Trainline is a place where you can grow, learn, and thrive. Ready to drive your career forward? Join us on this exciting journey! 👋
