Job Description

We’re on a mission to provide equitable access to economic opportunity, for everyone.

We close critical skill gaps in the workforce through a new kind of apprenticeship that combines work and learning. We begin by recognizing high-potential individuals both inside and outside of a company's current workforce and then we create applied, guided and equitable learning programs, with measurable impact. Because we believe the world needs a better way to match its potential.

We work with over 1,500 leading companies including the likes of Microsoft, Citi and Just Eat to help solve their business-critical problems, and we’ve trained over 16,000 professional apprentices in the tech and data skills of the future. This is made possible by our global team who are driven to achieve a mission that matters, together.

Join Multiverse and help us set a new course for work.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Commercial Counsel who thrives in an agile, busy and varied environment, where you'll own and negotiate a range of commercial contracts. Critical to this role will be your ability to collaborate closely with our Go To Market sales team, providing them with crucial contract support, training, and enablement whilst also exploring diverse projects/ fielding queries across the Finance, People, Marketing, Delivery, Tech, and Learning teams.

If you're hungry for ownership and eager to make an impact and provide legal insights across various business operations, this role is for you!

Specifically you will:

  • Be part of the growing Legal team (which includes Privacy and Infosec) and report to the UK Senior Legal counsel.

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts for commercial transactions, including (but not limited to!) customer MSAs, data sharing agreements, various supplier T&Cs, consultancy agreements, non-disclosure agreements, recruitment agency T&Cs, RFPS/bids, public procurement framework agreements.

  • Confidently join customer calls to answer questions about/ negotiate our contracts.

  • Work in collaboration with the team and/or independently on various deals under end of month, quarter, and year end time pressure.

  • Collaborate closely with our Go To Market (Sales) team to provide them with contract support, training and enablement.

  • Provide legal support on ad-hoc projects and field queries across a range of business functions (e.g. Finance, People, Marketing, Delivery, Tech and Learning).

  • Proactively identify risks to our business and solutions to eliminate or mitigate them.

  • Help to set up agile risk-based processes and procedures - the more tech enabled, the better!

  • Proactively contribute towards Legal internal resources, playbooks and training.

  • Assist the GC in handling general corporate legal matters and management of legal company documentation.

About you:

  • Ideally c. 2-4 years PQE qualified as a UK lawyer

  • Exposure to working in-house (by secondment or otherwise).

  • Experience working within a fast growing tech/Saas company or start-up.

  • Experience working with end-to-end B2B commercial contracts for customers and suppliers.

  • Be able to effectively consume and communicate information both to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong business vs risk acumen, i.e possess a solid understanding for when the business needs a quick reply, as opposed to an extensive deep dive for an exhaustive answer.

  • Have the ability to judge when to escalate or/and get a second opinion.

  • Have good organisational skills and are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong work ethic.

  • Thrive in an agile, fast-paced commercial oriented, hands-on environment.

  • Are curious, open and love asking questions/ solving problems.

  • Be a strong team player and display a “can-do” approach; no job is too big or too small.

  • Thorough, methodical, professional and committed to the Multiverse values.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience working on data protection/ privacy related matters.

Benefits:

  • Time off - 27 days holiday, plus 7 additional days off: 1 life event day, 2 volunteer days and 4 company-wide wellbeing days and 8 bank holidays per year.

  • Health & Wellness- private medical Insurance with Bupa, a medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Gympass and access to Spill - all-in-one mental health support.

  • Hybrid & remote work offering - with one weekly visit to the London office and the opportunity to work abroad 45 days a year.

  • Team fun - weekly socials, company-wide events and office snacks!
