The role is based within the R&D function within the Corporate Center. The role will lead communications for the Food and Health Science platforms within Corporate Science and Technology. Trusted partnerships with the science team within Corporate S&T will be essential alongside the ability to engage and develop compelling communications from original science content. Strong peer relationships with counterparts within the segments will be critical for developing and driving science communications campaigns. Understanding how to effectively navigate complex matrix organizations will be critical for success in this role.

What are we looking for?

  • Significant relevant experience and successful work experience developing and implementing corporate communications and public affairs strategies.

  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific knowledge into compelling communications campaigns.

  • Must have understanding of corporate matrix, managing critical stakeholders and senior leaders.

  • Highly seasoned corporate affairs practitioner able to engage across matrix organizations and diverse geographies, adaptable and able to move at fast pace, while delivering rigorous materials/ briefing books, best in class integrated communication plans and external thought leadership opportunities.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Mars Corporate Science & Technology (60%):

  • Develop and drive storylines for Health & Wellness, Food Safety and Computational Science- Science for Food and Health platforms.

  • Lead the implementation of the comms Strategy as Co-pilot for discoveries in the Science for Health and Food space.

  • Develops talking points/ key messages for Science Leads on Science for Food and Health platforms.

  • Manages Speaking engagements & Media support.

  • Manages UCDavis and other Food Safety related partnerships visibility and comms plan

Mars Food Safety Platform and GFSC (30%):

  • Technical Leadership of the Communications, Engagement and Training (C&T) team based at the GFSC

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the long-term food safety communication and engagement strategy (Global and China-GFSC)

  • Drive Food Safety Annual campaign and partnership visibility strategy with FAO/WFP

  • Will be in charge of developing nutrition and H&W messaging, narratives and positions in hands w/ SRA and PA

  • This role seats at the GFSC leadership team and advises GFSC Science leads for Speaking engagements and communications strategy Globally and in China

  • Supports Mars China/ GRSC

  • Supports SRA/CS&T Nutrition narrative

Mars Cross-segment and Corporate CA Engagement (10%):

  • Champion the Corporate R&D/ Science communications council/ community of practice

  • Provide guidance and build science-led and innovative stories for social media plans

  • Equip CA R&D Segment leads with R&D Insights for Health and Wellbeing/Food Safety efforts

Total rewards at Mars includes base pay, competitive benefits, and annual bonus (if position is eligible). The full-time pay range for this role is:

USD 188,760.00 - USD 283,138.00
