Job Description

We are looking for a Group Head of Reserving

Who are we?

At Brit, we believe that the uncertainty of the future should never stand in the way of progress. That’s why we exist. To help people and businesses face the future and thrive. We are change-makers enabled by a global workforce who collaborate to deliver a risk service. A team empowered to help our customers not only to survive the risks they face, but to stay on the front foot and keep moving forward. We believe the uncertainty of tomorrow isn’t something to fear but to seize; that it’s full of potential. Not only for our customers but our employees too.

We might write the future of risk for our brokers and clients, but we would love to help you write your future at Brit: a future based on not just progressing but on thriving – both professionally and emotionally. If you’re looking for a place to make a real difference, read on.

The role

The focus of the role will be to contribute to the performance of the Brit Group by continuous monitoring of the reserving position and feeding back of recommendations into underwriting, finance, and claims.

You’ll be responsible for the Group’s reserving process ensuring compliance with both the Group’s Reserving Policy and any external regulatory requirements/standards. As well as this you’ll also be responsible for developing and maintaining a best-in-class Reserving process for the Group.

Whilst completing the above you will also be as a key point of contact for the Group in respect of all reserving related activities.

About you

As a Qualified actuary (FIA, FFA or equivalent) with extensive experience in London Market reserving you’ll use your experience of managing a team of qualified actuaries/students to ensure your success in this vacancy.

You’ll have strong commercial and financial insurance knowledge, combined with numerical and analytical skills with close attention to detail. This will allow you to be immediately credible and accepted by senior stakeholders, Board members and external audiences and ensure effective and concise communication of technical content and key messages to a broad range of audiences.

You’ll identify emerging issues and strategic opportunities; recommending and implementing change as required and with consideration of impact across all stakeholders.

You’ll be able to lead and inspire the Actuarial team and influence wider teams across the business to deliver group objectives.

Our culture

This opportunity comes along with a competitive salary, 27 days annual leave, optional private medical insurance, on target bonus and strong employer’s contributory pension, plus many more benefits. We also operate in a hybrid working capacity meaning you can collaborate in the London office as well as enjoy the ability to work from home.

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at Brit. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought and social background bring richness to our working environment. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, or who you love, we believe you should be you.

You’ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals. If this sounds like a role and a culture that appeals to you, let us know. Apply now!
