Job Description
Rival is looking for a visionary and entrepreneurial Head of Product to join our growing team.
As our Head of Product you will own, develop, and deliver the product roadmap for the Rival Group. Our mission is to build the tools, tech, and thinking to enable any business to grow like a challenger - building products to enable this mission at scale is a huge and critical part of why we exist and what we’ve set out to do as a company. We’ve already built and launched our first product, Rival Curo, and now want to bring product and engineering in-house under this person as a core competency of our business.
Since this is a management role, we would prefer candidates to be based in London or NYC (our two main offices), but we are a remote-first, fully flexible company and will consider candidates anywhere within six-hours time change of London.
Role
- Your role will be split into three main areas: team building and management, product development, and commercial and client management
- You will help build an initial team of engineers to take the development and maintenance of Rival Curo in-house
- As Curo and the rest of our product roadmap evolves, you will build out and oversee a larger team of engineers and product managers
- You will fully own the design, development, and deployment of Rival Curo and future products working closely with the Managing Partners
- You will work closely with the sales team to help generate and convert deals for Curo and future products
- You will support clients and customers using Rival Curo to deliver maximum value, inform the product roadmap, and reduce churn
- You will report directly into our CEO
Opportunity
You will be joining the Rival journey at an exciting time. We launched the business a year ago and have already grown to a team of ten with a portfolio of great clients.
We are still very much a start-up and will need someone who can both shape the vision for Rival as a tech company and deliver it, with limited support in the short-term. That said, for the right person there is tremendous opportunity in this role and at this time in our company’s history. You will own a huge part of our vision and roadmap.
This role has a clear opportunity for progression. You will be the first and most senior product person in the business and would be able to craft the role and your growth path directly with our co-founders
Requirements
We'd like this candidate to have...
- We do not require a minimum years of experience, but you do need to have experience in a Lead/Head of Product role
- Experience in a start-up
- Experience building adtech or martech products, or experience in an advertising/marketing company
- A strong vision for what a winning product and product/tech team should look like
- Strong project management skills
- A start up mentality and personality: you can think big picture but aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the nitty gritty
- Ability to travel for company meetings once a quarter (if not based in London or NYC) at minimum and company events once a year
- No university degree required - we value your experience and skills
- We would be particularly excited if you had...
- Experience with database architecture, management, and visualization
- Experience with Tableau and/or Google Data Studio
- Experience in sales or working with a sales team is a plus
Compensation
- Our compensation philosophy is to pay mid-market base with top-market upside
- There are three components to our compensation package for this role

- Profit Share - 10% of company profits are distributed twice a year based on performance
- Employee Options - all employees are eligible for our options scheme after they’ve been with the company for one year
- The base salary for this role based in London (or similar cost of living city) is £80,000-£90,000.
- Per the above, the salary range is fixed and will be adjusted based on where you live
Benefits
- Profit Share and Stock Options
- Remote-first, fully flexible working environment
- You can work anywhere in the world for up to 90 days a year
- The equipment and technology you need to be successful, plus additional support if you need to enhance your work from home set up
- On-demand office space as needed
- Automatic enrolment into our pension scheme from day one
- Quarterly ‘get together days’
- We cover everything to get teams to connect in their geographical hub
- Annual company retreats
- All-expense paid trip once a year for team building and fun!
- 32 days PTO each year
- 25 discretionary vacation days
- This may vary based on the country you live/work in, but we will ensure everyone has the same minimum number of PTO between discretionary vacation days and public holidays
- 7 company ‘recharge days’ during the year - these are mandatory days that everyone takes off to relax and focus on family, friends and ourselves.
- Various surprise and delights & Rival events throughout the year.
