Job Description

Who we are

When Volt launched in 2019, we recognised how open banking had the power to transform how businesses, whatever they happen to be, receive payments from their customers. So, we set about building an open payments gateway that enables merchants across the globe to receive direct, account-to-account payments - in real time.

Now, on the back of a record breaking $23.5 million series A funding round, we’re building an all-star team to achieve our goal of ‘real time payments, everywhere’

About the role

Our people and culture team are pivotal to how we support our people and manage a seamless experience for them each day. The goal is to create a partnership with our teams that is people-centric and tangible. Put simply, we come to work to create a fantastic experience that our people love and that starts from the very first point we connect with our new joiners and more long term employees.

We're looking for a People Operations Manager to lead and support our growing team. Volt has grown to a 100 + person strong organisation and will be looking to scale to an even larger one through 2022 and beyond. The list of tasks for our people and culture team is ever growing so someone who is happy to take on a wide range of tasks would be perfect for the role.

A team oriented, results driven expert with excellent communication and interpersonal skills is the right fit. We have a team of high performing, engaged and motivated people and this role will help to make the experience for our team exceptional.

The role reports directly into our Chief People Officer and will be the fist management hire into the UK people team so there is endless scope for creativity and growth in the role.

What will you be doing?

  • This is a generalist People role that is project based, not department based
  • You will be using our People systems on a daily basis and will be able to work seamlessly with little support across: HiBob, Greenhouse, Ben, Workable, Slack and Google Suite and pick up new systems with ease
  • You will be central to helping manage employee relations issues as and when they arise and work tirelessly to be as proactive as possible with our people so that we can avoid unnecessarily drawn out processes
  • You will be committed to building reporting and data for the people org - you will be making data driven decisions on a daily basis
  • You will be picking up tasks on a daily basis across the whole organisation - we are developing our people and culture team @Volt so you will be working on greenfield projects and you will be able to manage them from inception to completion
  • You will be working with sensitive people data and so you will need to be able to manage information maturely and act accordingly in any given situation
  • You will be comfortable being involved in talent acquisition and interviewing when needed as well as supporting the talent team
  • You will be able to work across the key stages of the employee lifecycle for all of our employees from pre onboarding through to off boarding and crucially, you can learn quickly
  • You will stay ahead of the game in terms of the latest products and ideas in the People and Culture space and come to the business with ideas and creative approaches to traditional problems
  • You will be embedded in the commercial arms of the business and feel comfortable creating businesses cases and working with all functions across the organisation - from interns to C-Suite

What have you been doing?

  • It is likely that you have been working in a fast growing business in the technology industry that has faced the challenges associated to that from a people perspective
  • You will have been working as a PeopleOps Lead or coordinator and are looking for a step up in your career
  • You will have been working in a business that has seen a lot of change and can work in an agile fashion and understand how to build processes for scale
  • You will have completed your CIPD qualifications or HR qualifications to a decent level or can prove your knowledge of HR processes and HR employment law
  • Most importantly, we would love to see examples from your previous work where you have up-skilled rapidly, used your own initiative to launch projects and worked autonomously in a challenging environment

Why Volt?

  • In 2021, we secured $23.5 million in Series A funding – a record in the open banking space. We’re going places – fast
  • We’re building new, game-changing tech that’s evolving at lightning speed. It’s energising to be part of
  • We champion ‘extreme ownership’ – being not just the owner of your own tasks, but a key member of a team united by, and accountable for, common goals
  • Our culture is rooted in ambition. Discover what it’s like to work for a start-up on the cusp of achieving something big
  • We’re aiming to create the perfect balance between remote and office-based work; we want an environment you can thrive in
  • We are a business that is growing, but we still have a lot to do! We are looking to extend our benefits and perks package this year but we offer a range of benefits including: enhanced parental leave, private medical insurance, pension matching, stock options etc
