Role Purpose/Business Unit:

The Organisational Effectiveness and Change Lead is accountable to lead the Organisation Effectiveness (OE) agenda for specified business environments across the Vodacom Group, and will be required to provide OE subject matter expertise and leadership to enable complex transformation in line with business strategy. In partnership with the EHOD: OE & Change and ME: Talent & OE, this role will co-develop tailored Organisation Effectiveness & Change strategy for defined business environments that aligns with Vodafone OE and Vodacom Strategy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with the business area leadership, HR leadership, Vodafone representatives, and HRBPs to execute on transformational objectives in line with the organisational strategy.
  • Represent the OE work stream and act as the OE authority around all operational and tactical OE activities and inputs required by complex multi-disciplinary, multi-geography transformational projects that often involve senior stakeholders from Vodacom and Vodafone Group.
  • Adopt a Vodacom Group perspective on transformational activities, and actively collaborate with senior Vodacom OPCO leaders to enable Group wide transformational ambitions.
  • Independently present and communicate OE recommendations and perspectives to large and senior audiences, in alignment with the EHOD: OE & Change.
  • Continuously diagnose organisational effectiveness and organisational sizing & efficiency opportunities and implement these in a sustainable manner. Support company-wide digital transformation projects from and end-to-end OE perspective, as well as change and transformation initiatives through effective micro and macro-level organisation design
  • In partnership with the relevant HRBP, develop and drive a continuous efficiency agenda for the business by assessing and improving OE metrics such as average span, deepest layers, management ratios, employment cost, headcount and other metrics.
  • Shape and influence future thinking around organisational operating models and design, ways of working, efficiency and managing change by drawing best practice from Vodafone Group teams and external market sources.

  • Drive simplification and reduce duplication of activities & processes within defined business environments by sustainably re-focussing resources to new revenue streams and/or strategic enablers through detailed analysis.
  • Create a strong and effective partnering relationship with the relevant HRBPs and in-market HR Directors and teams to add business value by enabling the HR priorities.
  • Support HRBPs with effective workforce planning.
  • Contribute to innovative approaches to projects and initiatives, effective problem solving as well as a culture of new idea generation, calculated risk-taking and knowledge sharing.
  • Scout the external market for ideas and new, innovative ways of working which will deliver business benefits for Vodacom.
  • Create and recommend frameworks and governance models to address business challenges from an OE perspective, in conjunction with the OE Leadership team.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate implementation of job architecture across the Vodacom Group Conduct job evaluation in line with agreed governance for defined business areas.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management/Organisational Psychology or related field (essential)
  • Postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management or related field (advantageous)
  • 8+ years’ relevant work experience with proven exposure to organisational effectiveness (organisation design & operating models),
  • Proven exposure to business restructuring, transformation and people change initiatives (incl. working with senior business leaders)
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-country, Group-based project execution, as well as operating at a tactical level across multiple businesses and geographies.
  • Knowledge and exposure to organization design and methodology
  • Understanding and experience in workforce planning (headcount & employment cost), job architecture and job evaluation.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with demonstrated leadership qualities within the OE domain.
  • Strong learning agility and curiosity, and ability to shape future thinking around best practice organisation design
  • Contribute innovative approaches to problem-solving
  • Contribute to a culture of new idea generation, calculated risk-taking and knowledge-sharing within team and broader
  • Provide coaching and propagate best practice/ knowledge transfer across Vodacom Group
