Job Description
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Packet Core Architect to join our Core Engineering team.
The Packet Core Architect is responsible for defining and developing the strategic architecture of the Packet Core network.
Working with business stakeholders, platform designers and external suppliers to generate innovative and robust solutions that are fit for purpose and deliver the best value for VMO2.
The key focus of this position is to ensure the Packet Core infrastructure provides a highly reliable, high performance, scalable and maintainable network in the most cost effective and timely manner
This role includes writing detailed requirements and completing RFQs/RFPs with Vendors to underpin the agreed strategy and roadmaps.
It also includes writing detailed business cases to secure budget and agree spend for the agreed strategy and roadmaps.

The must haves
- Detailed knowledge of 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G NSA and 5G SA Packet Core systems
- Extensive knowledge of Incumbent vendor’s PS Core Products and Incumbent vendor OSS tools
- knowledge of Virtualised environments
- Extensive knowledge of PS core network functionality and technology, including all PS Core interfaces, mobility management procedures, session management procedures, interworking & handover, QoS, GTP, IP technology, national & international roaming
The other stuff we are looking for
- Experience in finance and budgeting
- Knowledge of Radio, BSS, OSS, terminals and services
- Educated to degree level or Equivalent
