About Unmind

Unmind is a workplace mental health platform. We empower employees to live more fulfilling and balanced lives by changing the way organisations around the world think about mental health. We believe that everyone has the right to a healthy mind – because we all have mental health, all of the time – and we’re striving to create a world where mental health is universally understood, nurtured, and celebrated.

In the past 18 months, Unmind has grown from a 30 person team to a fast-growing, 180 person global organisation with offices in London, Sydney, and New York. With the recent announcement of our Series B funding, we're looking forward to our next stage of growth which will enable us to deliver on our mission to improve the mental wellbeing of ten million people in organisations around the world.

We have ambitious plans to change the perception of mental health and we still need help in achieving them– which is why we’re looking for an exceptional individual to join as an Applied Positive Psychologist.

Uniting Behind Uniqueness

We are committed to building an inclusive workplace and encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work. However you identify, and whatever background you bring with you, we welcome you to apply for a role at Unmind.

If there are any adjustments that would help improve your experience with Unmind, please do let us know when you apply.

We also believe our interview process should be inclusive and transparent. Find out what to expect and more about our commitment to diversity on our candidate FAQs page here. As always, if there is anything missing, or you've identified a way we can improve, just let us know!

The Role – Applied Positive Psychologist

This is an exciting opportunity for a psychologist with specialist knowledge and experience in positive psychology, who is passionate about leveraging the evidence base to help individuals and organisations flourish.

Bringing strong theoretical and practical knowledge that complements the expertise of our existing team, you’ll help bring positive psychology to the fore. This includes evolving our content roadmap, ensuring that we continue to deliver the highest-quality offering, appealing to users across the mental health continuum.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • CREATE: Oversee the creation of innovative, evidence-based content to help our users learn and grow across a broad range of topics. You’ll also feed into the content roadmapping process, applying your expertise to ensure that we’re addressing the most important, impactful topics to move our users closer to a state of flourishing.
  • COLLABORATE: Team up with our Product and Content teams to ensure that our delivery remains a truly world-class, engaging and trusted experience. You’ll also harness the expertise within your wider professional network, bringing credible experts on board to consult with us.
  • BRING SCIENCE TO THE FORE: As a subject matter expert, you’ll represent Psychology in cross-departmental meetings, ensuring that Unmind’s core scientific values are held in mind in relevant discussions and decisions.
  • PRESENT: You’ll host engaging and thought-provoking online events and discussion forums for our users and clients, helping educate and inspire them on their journey to flourishing.

Skills and Experience

We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However, some experience in the following is important for the role:

  • MSc or PhD in positive psychology, with experience applying it in a clinical or workplace setting. Or a core profession (e.g. therapist or social worker) with 2 years demonstrated experience in applying positive psychology in real-world settings.
  • Deep knowledge of the positive psychology evidence base, and experience in applying evidence-based interventions to promote flourishing, either in groups or 1:1.
  • Excellent written skills, with an ability to translate complex psychological concepts into digestible content for a range of audiences.
  • Seasoned presenter, comfortable talking to large audiences both in-person and virtually.
  • Assertive, and comfortable in challenging the status quo, with an ability to express evidence-backed opinions.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to deliver on projects, often to tight deadlines.
  • Passion for mental health, tech-for-good, and generally improving people’s lives.
  • Comfortable working in an environment of rapid growth, constant change, and lots of unknowns.
  • Hungry to make Unmind the global category leader of workplace mental health.
