Technology is at the core of what we do. As a Senior Software Engineer at Unibuddy, you will be engaged in every aspect of building market-leading tech products used by universities and students. You will participate in the ideation, conceptualization, and building of these products.

As part of a rapidly growing company, you will gain exposure to all areas of the business, understand the key success drivers at a high-growth company, and gain invaluable experience. Success in this role will lead to opportunities for growth across the entire engineering team with significant scope for future development.

Your day-to-day

  • To develop, test, deploy and release new user-facing features on Android and iOS platforms using React Native
  • To optimise components for maximum performance and to enhance performance of application close to a native application by taking advantage of native APIs resulting in clean integration of all platforms
  • To consistently deliver high quality code. Maintain code quality across the team by reviewing code written by other members of the team
  • To acquire expertise of the codebase and constantly share knowledge thereby helping junior and new team members get up to speed
  • To have an extended knowledge of design patterns and best practices around mobile application development and help new engineers find appropriate coding solutions to technical problems
  • To identify gaps in current standards and practices followed (including build and deployment procedures) and propose / implement ways to bridge these gaps
  • To explore new technologies, techniques, toolsets and best practices the team could use

This might be for you if…

  • you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any other related field. The equivalent of this in work experience is also acceptable for the position
  • you are self-motivated, hard-working, coachable, and driven by a strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • you enjoy working in a collaborative atmosphere where new ideas are valued
  • you have a strong grasp of JavaScript, React JS and their nuances
  • you have at least 3 years of experience building React Native mobile applications including experience in releasing apps to PlayStore and AppStore
  • you have at least 6 years of overall professional mobile application development experience including development, testing, deployment and release management
  • you have expertise in CI/CD for releasing mobile applications
  • you have a good understanding of tools like Xcode, Gradle, Android Studio, Fastlane, etc
  • you have experience in testing with tools like Jest, Detox, etc
  • You have experience working with Firebase for mobile push notifications

As an engineering team, we are dedicated, hardworking, and always looking to learn and improve our craft. This happens in regular knowledge-sharing sessions with our product, data and platform squads. Our team is super collaborative and has complete ownership over products.
