Job Description


Our Flight Crew Training Team Leader holds a pivotal role within the Crew Planning team, overseeing the comprehensive scheduling and execution of our training programs for all Flight Crew under the TUI Airways & TUIFly Nordic AOC. This role extends to managing the shift-based training team who will ensure the fulfilment of all operational training requirements, including those for cabin crew up to the day of operation. You will be accountable for the entire training lifecycle, from initial planning through to operational delivery, including the documentation of all Flight Crew and Cabin Crew training activities. Additionally, you will ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, legislation, and industrial agreements, maintaining the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.

This role is Non-Shift (Mon - Fri) and we are happy to consider the opportunity on a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in our Luton office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Lead, engage, and develop the Flight Crew Training Team, ensuring they possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and motivation to consistently achieve high performance standards, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
  • Provide comprehensive briefs and updates to Flight Operations Leadership, including the Crew Training Nominated Persons and Pilot/Cabin Crew Management, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational goals
  • Oversee the effective rostering, operational delivery, and documentation of all flight crew training requirements, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory compliance, collective agreements, and company standards including monthly review of KPIs to assess and address areas for improvement
  • Responsible for the delivery of all crew training requirements to operational crew, ensuring strict adherence to budgetary restrictions and financial targets and compliance with regulatory requirements to include audit considerations
  • Work closely with Crew Planning Managers to ensure an integrated and collaborative approach to the Training Plan. Promote operational flexibility and implement cost-saving initiatives through detailed process analysis and improvement
  • Proactively liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to provide a customer-centric service that meets all operational needs and enhances overall service delivery
  • Respond to flight crew queries and feedback promptly. Actively participate in forums, providing balanced feedback, guidance, and support, while maintaining a focus on customer service and crew planning deliverables
  • Attend and support Trade Union meetings as required to discuss flight crew training matters. Build strong relationships with union representatives to understand and anticipate their needs, facilitating agreements that enhance crew productivity
  • Provide effective communication channels, guidance materials, and training packages to enhance understanding of crew training processes and requirements within the team
  • Providing feedback, training, guidance, and support to champion a service culture within Crew Planning and deliver optimal performance across the team

ABOUT YOU

  • Excellent leadership experience and ability to coach and develop a team
  • Ability to operate within a virtual airline, with multiple customers and stakeholders across Northern Region
  • A skilled communicator with the proven ability to influence and partner senior leaders, and gain support and commitment from line managers and employees across the business
  • Proven ability to employ analytical tools to improve roster quality and demonstrate an understanding of the impact of roster quality on safety
  • A stress resilient person that finds energy in solving problems under time pressure
  • Ability to think commercially and strategically whilst ensuring safety objectives and full regulatory compliance is achieved and maintained
  • A self-motivated leader who takes the initiative and works collaboratively with a track record of motivating and developing teams
  • A thinker with the ability to generate ideas and alternatives
  • Demonstrable ability to clearly articulate concepts and arguments verbally and in written documentation
