Description
We’re looking for a Lead QA Engineer who can support us in designing the whole testing infrastructure in TrueLayer, bringing in knowledge, experience with testing tools and good practices. You’ll be at the heart of financial innovation, using industry-disrupting technologies like open banking to revolutionise online payments and enable financial data to be integrated into any app or website. Working at a rapidly growing fintech, you’ll encounter new and exciting opportunities as we scale our products and infrastructure to meet the demands of our customers, and expand our ecosystem to open up new possibilities. You'll closely collaborate with our engineers who are guided by our Engineering Principles and other stakeholders on all aspects of quality and will support them in the design, implementation, delivery and in the operation of our products — in short: you’ll help them to build it, and run it! What we expect from you, as a Lead Quality Engineer:
- The desire and experience to lead the creation of a global QA strategy for all TrueLayer’s products
- Walk the team through the evolution of the QA function you envision: provide mentoring and oversight to empower all team members to deliver a product at the highest standard
- Enable teams to build high quality automated testing suites, ensuring all our UI and API features are covered with the correct level of tests corresponding to the test strategy
- You are not going to supervise engineers, but this role will have both aspects of planning/designing the QA infrastructure as well as being hands-on
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders with the intent of fostering the creation of a quality-first culture (both in product and engineering)
- Continuously review and identify quality gaps within the group of mission teams to ensure quality is at the forefront of everything we do
- Support the quality community by collaborating and coaching within the quality guild
- Play an active role in the post-incident phase. Support the Incident Lead by taking ownership of the investigation and reflects the learnings into the testing strategy

Requirements:
- Experience in setting and owning testing strategy for complex software development and integration projects
- Experience in leading a design and implementation of the whole tests pyramid using CI/CD strategy that helps raise the quality bar
- Experience in working with clients and third party providers to deliver high-quality products for the end users
- Experience in supporting multiple cross-functional teams in driving their quality goals
- Proven history of mentoring technical and non-technical team members, reviewing processes, and influencing senior stakeholders to constantly raise the quality of products
- Experience building tests frameworks from scratch for .NET, Java, Rust or Go environments
- Ability to positively influence a community of engineers by guiding them through the evolution of the testing function
- Previous experience with managing non-technical stakeholders and getting buy-in from them
- Thorough understanding of test pyramid and test automation methodologies BDD/TDD, unit testing and integration testing
- Experience in writing elegant and maintainable code in C#, Typescript or Javascript
- In-depth knowledge of API design and testing tools like Postman, Insomnia, Swagger and others
- Knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL data technologies
We’d be particularly excited if you have:
- Implemented a test strategy from scratch in a startup environment
- Have worked on or improvement open source testing tools
- Previous experience in mobile application test automation
