Job Description

Company Description

We are champions of rail, inspired to build a greener, more sustainable future of travel. Trainline enables millions of travellers to find and book the best value tickets across carriers, fares, and journey options through our highly rated mobile app, website, and B2B partner channels.

Great journeys start with Trainline 🚄

Now Europe’s number 1 downloaded rail app, with over 125 million monthly visits and £5.3 billion in annual ticket sales, we collaborate with 270+ rail and coach companies in over 40 countries. We want to create a world where travel is as simple, seamless, and affordable as it should be.

Today, we're a FTSE 250 company driven by our incredible team of over 1,000 Trainliners from 50+ nationalities, based across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. With our focus on growth in the UK and Europe, now is the perfect time to join us on this high-speed journey.

Job Description

Trainline has experienced exceptional revenue growth over the past five years, solidifying its position as the #1 rail app across the UK and EU. At the heart of this success are our customer-obsessed teams, whose dedication and innovation have crafted a market-leading B2C value proposition, fueling our ongoing expansion.

As we look further out, towards the next five years, we are looking to mirror this success in our B2B arm (our fastest growing business segment, which accounts for 15% of overall Trainline sales today), with an immediate focus on super serving the needs of our Train Operating Companies (TOCs), who sell rail tickets on our channels.

This role will strategically tackle critical pain points in the B2B space and drive uptake & usage of a powerful toolkit of product levers being built to unlock enhanced value for TOCs and the industry. By doing so, it will play a pivotal role in strengthening Trainline’s position as EU’s #1 rail aggregator and driving monetization across all our core geographies.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop a deep understanding of TOC-specific commercial goals and conduct a strategic evaluation of high-potential opportunities where Trainline can propose and implement impactful interventions, enhancing our value proposition.
  • Create scalable playbooks across Trainline’s marketing channels to address key TOC use cases, such as route promotion, yield optimization, and value proposition communication. You will coordinate with multiple departments to ensure alignment, establish SLAs, and provide sufficient lead time for seamless campaign creation.
  • Drive the go-to-market (GTM) strategy for Trainline’s value proposition to TOCs. You will develop compelling collateral and thought leadership materials to empower the EU rail supply team in their engagement with TOCs, showcasing the key marketing levers Trainline offers to accelerate their growth, and improve their Lifetime Value (LTV) on our channels.
  • Take ownership of campaign ideation, execution, and performance reporting. Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to establish and implement best practices, ensuring the carrier marketing process is executed effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure TOC partners' understanding of Trainline’s current offerings and innovative capabilities are up to date. Deliver regular thought leadership content and effectively package and communicate Trainline’s marketing activities to highlight the value unlocked for partners.
  • Facilitate periodic joint ideation workshops between TOCs and Trainline’s Product Teams to collaboratively develop roadmaps of new growth levers aligned with TOC objectives. Additionally, support the planning and execution of panel events in partnership with industry stakeholders.
  • Partner with the data science team to uncover actionable customer insights that drive mutual value for Trainline and TOCs, enhancing the effectiveness of acquisition and retention strategies.

This role reports to the Director of Commercial Growth (Trainline Partner Solutions), who in turn reports to the VP of Trainline Partner Solutions. You will also work in close collaboration with dedicated product, engineering, data, and design resource, as well as Trainline’s EU Supply Team. Additionally, you will partner with equivalent counterparts within the UK Industry Team to ensure alignment and shared success across regions.

Qualifications

  • An experienced B2B marketing professional with 5–7 years of expertise in crafting and delivering commercial value propositions to business partners.
  • Commercially astute, with hands-on experience in driving growth through lifecycle marketing or revenue / pricing / ancillary upsell initiatives. You are skilled in structuring and developing comprehensive business cases to justify investments and demonstrate ROI for proposed initiatives.
  • An expert in influencing teams and prioritizing resources within complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
  • A structured self-starter with an intuitive ability to ‘make things happen’, especially in a go-to-market (GTM) context.
  • An exceptional communicator and presenter, skilled at engaging both external partners and internal stakeholders, including executives and VPs. Capable of synthesizing complex information and articulating key drivers that will move the needle.
  • Fluent in English, ideally with additional proficiency in Spanish or Italian, in order to effectively engage with carrier counterparts in key EU markets.
