The Role

As a cross product manager for our Industry Product Management group, you will be a key enabler of our ERP solution across customer segments. In order for customers to be able to consume SAP’s innovations, it is critical for us to invest into enablement of our horizontal capabilities and make these usable to our customers with industry-specific processes. You will be supporting a diverse team of industry product managers in identifying key industries that require specific investments to increase our addressable market. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and driving critical product initiatives that are relevant to multiple industries. Defining and executing on foundational product requirements as well as running strategic programs with across teams will be your main responsibility. You will contribute significantly to our goal of making our SaaS ERP available to all 25 industries.

What you’ll do:

The Product Management Specialist (m/f/d) Public Cloud ERP for Industries – Cross Programs will be part of the product team, focusing on industry success for SAP’s SaaS ERP solution, S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct market analyses to assess attractiveness of investment areas
  • Support in designing, prioritizing and describing an industry product backlog using standard tools like Jira
  • Lead strategic initiatives across industries to increase the attractiveness of our vertical product portfolio
  • Run critical business analyses on our product portfolio with a focus on financial performance and own the creation of critical reporting assets like dashboards and presentations
  • Develop usage measurement concepts and reporting infrastructure for business applications
  • Ensure high-quality reporting of roadmap innovations and other product achievements to senior management
  • Develop and drive the product vision, the roadmap, and the corresponding usage plan
  • Work in close collaboration with other teams, such as functional product management, content management, product marketing, and engineering
  • Make a contribution towards efficiency, effectively, and process improvement

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a business or software technology domain
  • 4+ years of overall experience
  • Relevant work experience in the software industry, ideally in a product management or program management role
  • Knowledge about SAP’s business application portfolio, in particular enterprise resource planning (ERP)
  • Familiarity with large enterprise software requirements processes and tooling (in particular roadmap and software requirement management)
  • Experience in managing complex and multifaceted projects with successful outcome and timely delivery
  • Excellent knowledge of tools like Jira, Microsoft Projects, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and ideally BI tools to create reporting dashboards like SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Flexibility to work on a diverse set of product topics across functional domains
  • Ability to work independently on projects with functional ownership
  • Excellent team player and collaborator across matrix organizations
  • Flexibility to work under time constraints and as part of an international team with multiple time zones (including United States)
  • Good verbal, communication skills with customers, partners and internal teams
  • Can-do attitude and mindset to solve complex problems in a pragmatic and timely manner
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with demonstrable success in previous roles or projects
  • Fluent or near-native English language skills

The mission of SAP S/4HANA and the Public Cloud ERP Product Management team is to drive and grow SAP’s core business as a market leader in cloud ERP. We are responsible for defining product scenarios based on market and target customer needs and translating them into consumable product requirements for engineering teams. We work hand-in-hand with our engineering and product marketing teams, as well as with our customers and partners on continuously improving our SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition product. Product Management is the authoritative voice of the legitimate challenges customers face, evangelizing an outcome-based product vision and roadmap that truly solves customer pain points by creating products that delight, yet serve the needs of SAP.
