Job Description
We're looking for a team player with excellent people skills combined with a passion for connecting people with nature. Working at RSPB Rainham Marshes nature reserve, you'll be providing a unique and fascinating visitor experience inspiring our visitors to support nature conservation now and in the future. This role is fundamental in ensuring we have the highest quality of visitor experience for both new and existing audiences.
About Rainham Marshes
A short journey from the bustling streets of London, Rainham Marshes is an internationally important home for wildlife. We welcome up to 80,000 visitors each year of all ages and backgrounds to the reserve, whether for school visits, guided walks, nature activities, or simply for a walk and a visit to the café. With four public hides, 2.4 miles of visitor trails, and an award-winning visitor centre, there is a lot on offer at Rainham Marshes. We want to keep expanding on this offer, growing our position as a destination wild space and a hub for the diverse communities of South Essex and East London.
You will be leading the Visitor Experience Officer and volunteers to design and deliver a coherent visitor offer, whilst also working with the HQ team to ensure the highest quality of the RSPB visitor experience.
The ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, and proven experience in planning events strategies and delivering a high standard of the visitor experience - if that's you we'd love to hear from you!
What we need from you
Essentials:
- Computer literate to include professional use of social media to adhere to brand requirements.
- Good working knowledge of visitor engagement techniques.
- Successful experience of managing or supporting a team of staff and/or volunteers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
- A team player who can motivate and inspire people.
- Problem solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
- Ability to maximise opportunities for visitor engagement and income generation.
- Able to build and maintain strong working relationships.
Desirables:
- Experience of managing and delivering against targets and KPI’s.
- Experience of analysing and interpreting data in a visitor experience environment.
- Having contributed to a successful visitor project or visitor attraction.
- Tourism or leisure related qualification, ideally at HND level or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Equal Opportunities and Diversity.
- Health & Safety in the workplace.
Additional Information
This is a Permanent role for 37.5 hours per week.
