This role will report to the Head of Communications, Marketing and Visitor Experience, RSPB England.

Aspects include:

  • Work closely with our centralised Visitor Experience Consultancy team, to co-create RSPB visitor experience and events strategies and review impact.
  • Implement relevant strategy and standards in England - through comms and marketing planning and delivery (marketing, promotion, social media, media, signage, interpretation) and by providing relevant insight and data.
  • Contribute, as a key stakeholder, to building the overarching vision and masterplan for the visitor experience at each reserve
  • Use each site’s vision, masterplan and interpretation plan to design and deliver communications.
  • Be the point of contact for reserves in England for advice, direction and technical communication expertise. Support day to day digital communications needs of reserves teams – such as updating web pages and supporting social media activity.
  • Support the England Communications Team to deliver their work with reserves – including managing reputational risks arising on reserves, spotting and maximising great stories and opportunities, communications planning and training.
  • Building strong relationships with peers in our central, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland teams, to ensure consistency.
  • Develop and deliver an annual programme of destination marketing for our reserves at an England level.
  • Support reserve teams to develop and deliver annual programmes of marketing at reserve level – in some cases this may be an advisory role, in others a leading role, depending on the site.
  • Work closely with our central Visitor Experience Consultancy team who deliver UK wide destination marketing.
  • Manage and develop external relationships which help deliver destination marketing, particularly with relevant Destination Marketing Organisations (DMO’s) across England.
  • Manage an England Marketing budget and have oversight of reserve spend for marketing in England.

You can be based anywhere in England, including in one of our RSPB England offices across the country or at home, but regular weekly travel will be a key part of the role visiting reserves and working with external stakeholders.
