Gwybodaeth am y swydd

Mae hon yn swydd 12 mis, ac mae'n bosib y caiff y cyfnod hwn ei ymestyn os bydd cyllid ar gael. Mae'r swydd yn canolbwyntio ar yr adnoddau coed o gwmpas Bro Ddyfi a'r ardal ehangach, lle ceir rhai o olygfeydd mwyaf godidog Cymru a rhywogaethau sydd lawn mor odidog. Bydd deiliad y swydd hon yn dechrau cyflwyno Glasbrint Tir Canol, a gynlluniwyd ar y cyd, gan ganolbwyntio ar goetiroedd Derw Gorllewin yr Iwerydd:

• Dadansoddi beth mae pobl eisoes yn ei wybod am yr adnoddau coed yn yr ardal.
• Llunio arolygon cynefinoedd ar y cyd â thirfeddianwyr ac ar eu cyfer. Bydd yr arolygon hyn yn ymwneud â'u hadnoddau a'u rhywogaethau coed, a byddant yn rhoi sylw i'w gwybodaeth a'u huchelgeisiau.
• Ymwneud â'r gweithgarwch coedwigaeth yn yr ardal i gefnogi rheoli coedwigaeth gynaliadwy.

Byddwch yn aelod o dîm Tir Canol. Byddwch yn cwrdd yn rheolaidd â'ch gilydd, ac yn cydweithio'n rheolaidd mewn lleoliad sydd eto i'w gadarnhau.

Gweithgareddau allweddol:

• Cynnal arolygon, gan gynnwys defnyddio Pecyn Cymorth Bywyd Gwyllt Coetiroedd ac arolygon rhywogaethau dethol.
• Cynnal asesiadau o gynefinoedd (hyd at Gam 1) a chreu cynllun gweithredu ar y cyd â thirfeddianwyr i nodi cyfleoedd posibl.
• Cysylltu â phartneriaid a rhanddeiliaid allanol ar draws Bro Ddyfi a'r ardal ehangach gan ddatblygu cysylltiadau yn lleol o fewn sefydliadau a chymunedau.
• Nodi cyfleoedd i greu ac i adfer coetiroedd.
Byddwch yn gweithio gartref mewn man addas yn ardal ddaearyddol y prosiect. Bydd gofyn i'r ymgeisydd llwyddiannus deithio o fewn i'r ardal hon.

Mae bod yn angerddol am gysylltu pobl â bywyd gwyllt, a'u galluogi i weithredu er mwyn diogelu'r byd naturiol, yn bwysig ar gyfer y swydd hon.

Byddai'r gallu i siarad Cymraeg yn ddymunol. Ond, os nad ydych yn siaradwr Cymraeg rhugl, mae deall enwau Cymraeg a gallu ynganu geiriau ac enwau'n gywir yn hanfodol. Yn ychwanegol fydd yn bwysig fod gennych ddealltwriaeth dda o’r ardal leol. Byddwch yn gweithio â siaradwyr Cymraeg yn rheolaidd.

What’s the role about

This is a 12-month post, with the potential of longer term subject to funding. The role focuses on the tree resource centred around the Dyfi Valley and wider area, which has some of Wales’ most specular scenery and the species to match. This role will be starting to deliver the co-designed Tir Canol Blueprint, with a focus on woodlands including Western Atlantic Oak Woods:

• Analyse what is already known of the tree resource in the area
• Deliver habitat surveys for, and with, landowners of their tree resource and species which incorporates their knowledge and ambitions
• Engage with the public forestry in the area to support sustainable forestry management
You will sit within the Tir Canol team, working together and meeting regularly with each other at a location to be confirmed.
Key activities:
• Survey work, including using the Woodland Wildlife Toolkit and selected species surveys
• Habitat assessment (to phase 1 level) and action plan alongside landowners for possible opportunities
• Liaising with external partners and stakeholders across the Dyfi and wider area developing relationships locally within organisations and communities
• Identifying woodland creation and restoration opportunities

You will be work from home in the geographical area of the project. The successful applicant will be required to travel within this area.

What we need from you

You need to be brilliant with people, and projects. You’ll need good knowledge of wildlife and habitat management in Wales. You’ll need good people skills to work in a co-productive approach, and strong analytical skills to digest information and pick out critical points for delivery of the Tir Canol Blueprint. A passion for connecting people to wildlife and enabling them to take action to protect the natural world is important for this role.

The ability to speak Welsh would be desirable for this role. However, if you are not a fluent Welsh speaker having an understanding of Welsh names and correct pronunciation is essential. Additionally it is important that you have a good understanding of the local area. The role will be working with Welsh speakers regularly.
