The RSPB is currently recruiting for a Junior Systems Engineer within the Technology Operations Run team to support our existing line of business systems.

What's the role about?

We’re recruiting due to internal promotion
As a Junior Systems Engineer within the Technology Operations Run team, you will work to support and leverage value from our existing line of business systems, services, and infrastructure, along with supporting the more tactical demands of the Customer Service Desk in a second or third-line support capacity.

Above all else, you’ll be an advocate for saving nature. Nature is in big trouble – the climate crisis and loss of habitat are pushing some of our best loved species towards extinction. We won’t let nature fall silent. This role is your chance to make real change possible. What do you say?

• Experience of supporting and maintaining systems in a Microsoft client/server environment.
• You will have knowledge of MS operating systems and the assorted services that a typical domain uses (DNS, Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, DHCP, Group Policy etc)
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and decide when to escalate both internally and to suppliers.
• Able to understand Customer’s day-to-day challenges in the use of technology and services, and feedback into the department’s continuous improvement programmes.
• Knowledge of incident, problem and change management and continuous improvement in an ITIL environment.
• Ability to contribute to the development of a knowledge base and document best practices as well as being able to communicate effectively with our user base.
• Good communication, collaborative, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of supporting, administering, and maintaining systems within Azure and Microsoft 365 stack (SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Azure AD etc).
• Experience of infrastructure technologies (VMWare, vSphere, HP Nimble, Arcserve UDP, Citrix, SUSE Linux experience would be a bonus)
• Experience of working on projects.
• Experience of monitoring systems and applications, setting measures and managing performance.
• Experience of supporting business applications (Finance, HR, CRM etc.)
• Experience of reporting technologies (PowerBI, SSRS) and/or MS SQL
• Experience with Azure SaaS and PaaS technologies (App Insights, Infrastructure Insights, Azure Governance)
• Experience with different VOIP systems (Teams Calling, Avaya, 3CX)
• Experience of integration technologies (ETL, automation, Flow, PowerApps, LogicApps, Abinitio, FileTrain)
