Introduction
Are you a fundraiser with a passion for nature? RSPB Cymru is looking for a fundraising expert to lead our Fundraising Team to meet targets in increasing and diversifying income from external funding sources (grant, trust, corporate partnerships) in order to enable delivery of priority projects and goals to aid nature's recovery.
What's the role about?
This role will lead and manage RSPB Cymru's high performing team to meet agreed income targets under Grants, Trusts and Corporate Partnerships. The successful candidate will themselves be high performing, with a proven track record and ability to maximise existing income sources, and identify and evaluate new sources of grant, trust and corporate income to ensure ongoing funding of RSPB work.
The candidate will work with the Head of Funding Development and RSPB Cymru colleagues though Programme Board to ensure best match of RSPB priorities to funding opportunities to ensure a strategic approach to fundraising. They will be able to develop multi funder fundraising plans and be the Account manager for a funder to maintain and grow relationships.
The candidate will have a high level of business acumen and able to review budgets for grants, trusts and corporate income and expenditure.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
A proven sales and/or fundraising track record.
Proven experience of relationship development in an outward facing role in the not for profit or private sector.
Managing income and expenditure budgets.
Understanding of and application of project management principles.
The ability to bring focus, direction and energy to get the job done, working with and through others.
Competent user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Business acumen – the ability to recognise opportunity in the context of achieving agreed return on investment.
Leading a successful income generating team
Ability to develop projects with a range of partners.
Proven experience writing reports, professional funding applications or similar professional documents for an external audience.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
Professional or academic qualification in leadership, management or fundraising.
Experience of working with volunteers.
Delivering learning and development sessions.
Interest in, knowledge of and passion for nature
Experience in developing and maintaining business relationships
This is a Temporary maternity cover full time contract for 37.5 hours a week for 4 months January-April 2023
The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
