Interim Financial Controller (Fixed Term role)

Remote-first

Fully flexible hours

Job Description

What do we do?

Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payments infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers, taking away 100% of the pain of payments fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.

In May 2022, we joined forces with ProfitWell. ProfitWell provides BI solutions that improve retention and monetization automatically through unmatched subscription intelligence. As one team and one platform, we offer the "done for you" approach to SaaS payments, billing, and growth.

We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced interim Financial Controller to initially support Paddle’s strategic accounting integration, partnering with our current Controller to optimally position our accounting structure, reconciliations, and integration of a newly acquired company. When our FC goes on maternity leave later in the year you will step into her role as leader of our finance and accounting team for the duration of her leave.

Finance is absolutely fundamental to Paddle’s product offering, with payments and tax at the core of our reseller model. This is a unique opportunity where our finance team also works closely with our product and engineering team to build our product, and ensure global compliance. You will report into the Financial Controller working towards our strategic team goals.

What you'll do:

  • Support onboarding a new company acquired unto our existing accounting structure and controls.
  • Partner with our financial controller to streamline processes, optimise operations, enhance controls and compliance.
  • Grow towards full interim finance and accounting coverage
  • Offer leadership to the accounting team, support strategic direction, audit deliverables, automation and optimisation of the existing processes according to GAAP.
  • Support drive continuous improvement to our accounting closing period and reporting deliverables
  • Partner with Treasury and FP&A to support cash flow analysis and critiques.
  • Develop and report KPIs. Report actual vs. budgeted/planned results as required.
  • Hiring, training, and retaining accounting staff. Oversee and direct all aspects of the accounting function and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all data relating to AP and AR, payroll, GL, account reconciliations, and expense variance analysis.

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have proven experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance - CPA or MBA preferred (not required)
  • Have a strong focus on controls and processes and a high attention to detail.
  • Have experience in building and managing a high performing team.
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to our fast-changing environment.
  • Are passionate about solving problems and always identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Are passionate about people, processes, automation, scalability and innovation.

What employees are saying

"Paddle have always offered a flexible working from home policy, and with the impact of COVID-19, they have strengthened their approach to this culture. We have an office available if we want to work around the team, or we can work from home whenever we like. It's a great balance! The parental leave is also awesome, we're super dog friendly and have some excellent benefits. I never feel pressured to work particular hours or stress that I have to be in an office."
