Senior Manager, Social Impact

Location - Mars Sites considered

We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Social Impact Senior Manager to join our team and lead our efforts in advancing incomes. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's living income and living wages strategy, driving data-driven decision-making, identifying breakthrough impact opportunities, and adapting solutions proven in adjacent industries or supply chains to create value for Mars. This individual will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across the organization and external partners to drive impact by helping those in our value chain to thrive.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years experience working in areas of global sustainability, economic development, sustainable agriculture with expertise in living income.

  • Expert on living income and how to effectively implement the rights levers to advance incomes for smallholder farmers in agricultural supply chains.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing, measuring and improving living income and livelihoods programs and targets.

  • Experience in supply chains and procurement practices

  • Broad knowledge of sustainability agenda in fast moving consumer goods, particularly in agricultural sector

  • Strong performance management skills including how to translate metrics and evaluation frameworks into relevant business KPIs

  • Ability to influence others, at all levels, without direct authority

  • Highly effective collaborator and networker - able to build and manage complex relationships internally and externally

  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with and influencing third party experts, NGOs, and IGOs.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Provide world-class subject-matter-expertise, strategic guidance and thought-leadership to the business in our key focus areas of living income and wages.

  • Refine and promote Mars Position on Smallholder Farmer Income;

  • Proactive engagement, guidance, capability building and counsel on income goals, strategies, policies, programs, and governance across entire value chain,

  • Work closely with sustainable sourcing leads on developing programs and measurement frameworks; including defining and improving KPIs to measure impact and drive consistency in performance management.

  • Build and maintain external relationships focused on establishing Mars as a leader in our approach to addressing farmer poverty and supporting business action on SDG1 (no poverty)

  • Help catalyze Mars’s future ambition to lead with purpose and address root causes of poverty in agricultural supply chains

  • Liaise with corporate reporting, corporate affairs, legal and segments in annual reporting cycles.
