As an associate of Scientific & Regulatory Affairs, the Senior Regulatory Specialist Europe performs a variety of regulatory activities related to raw materials, finished products, product registration, labelling, claims, packaging, and regulatory database management to ensure compliance with applicable food and other product-related laws and regulations in accordance with internal processes and within assigned countries and areas of responsibility. This position proactively identifies potential regulatory problems, and takes action, as appropriate, to minimize or eliminate such problems, and performs other duties to assist in creating a positive scientific and regulatory environment for our products and business goals.
The job holder helps to support the UK as a Scale Activation Market in the region. They monitor a broad range of issues developing in the UK as well as support on external influencing activities. This position proactively identifies potential regulatory problems, and takes action, as appropriate, to minimize or eliminate such problems and performs other duties to assist in creating a positive scientific and regulatory environment for our products and business goals. The Senior Specialist Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Europe also works on innovation and other external projects to address and resolve regulatory issues that impact our products as well as to materialize opportunities to support our growth plans across both the UK and Europe
What are we looking for?
A Bachelor’s (minimum) or Master’s (preferred) degree in a technical area, such as nutrition, food science, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or food law.
Substantial experience in regulatory affairs with food products, preferably with a focus on Europe and the UK. This includes profound knowledge of food regulatory matters with significant experience in regulatory monitoring, translating regulatory requirements to business teams, applying regulatory knowledge in large-scale projects and resolving regulatory questions quickly and efficiently.
Some experience working with trade associations and government agencies to clarify and resolve regulatory matters would be desired.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Has responsibility for assuring ingredients, formulas, labeling, and packaging are in full compliance with laws and regulations as well as internal standards/policies/etc. in assigned markets.
Has responsibility for assuring claims are in full compliance with laws and regulations as well as internal standards/policies/etc. in assigned markets.
Proactively monitors regulatory developments and activities in assigned markets; determines the current and expected regulatory status of (new) ingredients and food additives; researches interpretations regarding the safety and acceptability of products and ingredients, and assures that SRA databases are up to date.
Participates on project teams, anticipates regulatory issues, and works with legal counsel, consultants, suppliers, trade associations, and other external partners to clarify and resolve these issues.
Assists with the preparation and submission of documentation to regulatory agencies and other external bodies required to substantiate and approve claims and to gain approval of the new ingredients.
Performs other regulatory-related assignments as needed.

Salary range for this role: £52 000 - £67 000 (depends on the knowledge of the successful candidate)
