This role is part of Global R&D and is based in Slough.

The role serves to drive Growth, Efficiency and Quality acting as a recognized technical leader, interacting internally with the Regions and the wider Global community, across functions, as well as externally.

The candidate is responsible for owning and developing subject matter expertise in Chocolate Science, influencing the direction of programs, providing thought leadership, technical expertise, strategic direction and program management as needed.

The candidate also champions the global transfer of chocolate competencies through training programs, community of practice, consultancy, technical mentoring and knowledge capture to strengthen technical skills at all levels in the organization.

What are we looking for?

  • M.S or PhD degree in Food Science, Food or Chem. Engr., Biochemical or equivalent preferred.
    In lieu of PhD or MS, a BS degree with extensive experience in food or applicable industry is acceptable.

  • In-depth knowledge of chocolate-specific interactions and processes. Recognized and acknowledged chocolate expert within the global community.

  • Experience in building collaborative relationships between internal and external partners in different geographic locations/regions, and managing and influencing stakeholders

  • Experience in effectively communicating and solving conflict through virtual and face-to-face interactions

  • Proven in documenting, organizing and summarising technical results through verbal and written communication.

  • Travel to Global Mars sites and vendors required up to 30%

  • Available by video call outside normal working hours for communication with other Global sites.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert in Chocolate Science and influence the direction of programs through own knowledge and expertise

  • Champion the global transfer of chocolate competencies through educational programs, a community of practice, consultancy, technical mentoring and knowledge capture to nurture a global community of experts and upskill the organization across a range of levels and functions

  • Identify, develop and execute global chocolate technology programs as a technical leader that provides thought leadership, technical expertise, strategic direction, and program management as needed

  • Develop, drive and deploy technical strategy, champion long-term technology development thinking, identify needs and formulate proposals to address gaps

  • Lead the design and development new and/or improved chocolates, raw materials, processes, technical solutions from benchtop through pilot plant to full-scale production, demonstrating Quality of Science and applying technical rigor.
