Job Purpose

  • The main purpose of this role is to run the machines /Process by operating respective equipment’s. Learns the process conditions through Standard Operating Process/Standard Running Conditions and deliver the standard Output as expected.

  • This role works closely with Area associates to deliver the area performance by contributing in respective of their work to ensure the Safety/Quality/Effciencies /Wastages are delivered as per plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain/Follow safety standards in the area.

  • Maintain /Follow Quality and Food safety standards in the area.

  • Raising and closing the Safety /Food Safety near misses in the area.

  • Follow /Maintains the Personal hygiene and GMP guidelines as applicable.

  • Ensure the equipment and subsystems runs efficiently as per SOC. Executes Shutdown, Startup procedures. Ensure routine operations are adhered which may include task such as clearing jams, cleaning Equipment’s, and disposing of defective product or raw materials.

  • Operational level troubleshooting of the equipment’s and escalate the issues beyond area of expertise.

  • Ensure proper area documentation as per standards.

  • Awareness of the Line wastages and work towards elimination of these wastages. Contributes to continuous improvement of the line by implementing Kaizen /OPLs and contributes in Problem solving small group activities.

Context and Scope

Machine Technician should judge themselves against these standards and should seek at the earliest opportunity to clarify what specific figures they should be targeting for all the general areas below. Machine Technician who adhere to these criteria will meet the standard expected:

Behavioural

  • Follow the Associate Concept

  • Behave and act in accordance with the Five Principles

Output

  • Run machines to SOC. Be familiar with all SOCs.

  • Rectify and/or escalate issues, which prevent achievement of SOCs and/or Schedule. Log all such occurrences accurately and fully.

  • Ensure changeovers are completed within specified time to the right standard in accordance with Operating Procedures where these are available.

  • Ensure CP0 module level data is captured an escalation are timely shared with key stakeholders .

Costs

  • Operate work station to minimise product and packaging wastage.

  • Know the target standards for the machine which he/she is operating.

  • Fix or immediately escalates issues or faults that are causing excess waste. Record all incidences in Logbooks or on systems provided.

Quality

  • Ensure all activities that demonstrate due diligence are carried out

  • Carry out all the area cleaning by using the House keeping teams

  • Under go basic Food Safety training

  • Monitor & maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Process Prerequisite Programmes (OPRPs & PRP’s)

  • Monitor the Critical Control Points (CCP’s) as per define frequency

  • Maintain accuracy of operational records

Safety

  • Ensure behavior at work complies with Mars Safety Policy.

  • Ensure validation in SSWs are completed within time period.

  • Escalate safety issues appropriately .

  • Perform all the activities in the area as per Mars Global Safety standard eg –Lock out Tag Out (LOTO), working at height etc.

  • Carry out the Safety interlock inspections in areas as per the schedule and immediate escalation in case of any failure.

  • Support Area Associate in carrying out regular toolbox talks with the contractors on the safe practices.

Hygiene

  • Maintain personal hygiene and Uniform standards at all times.

  • Maintain Work area hygiene standards.

  • Complete hygiene tasks as directed and record completion as applicable .

General

  • Communicate effectively issues and exceptions for their specific workstation to other shifts, technicians, in logbooks as well as verbally.

  • Seek Support from LM’s for their own development and skills acquisition.

  • Work flexibly with the other associates in their work group. Every day find ways to improve ways of working and their work area and equipment.

  • Monitor their own performance in all the groups above to form a basis for discussion at their next appraisal.

Educational & Professional Qualification

  • ITI (2 years technical course after 10th Standard) with good communication skills in Marathi/Hindi/English.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Minimum 3 years working experience ,FMCG sector experience preferred.
