This is a key role in the C&T (Care and Treats) Global Innovation Centre. The C&T Future Technology Scientist is responsible for the creation and delivery of Future Technology projects in line with the C&T innovation strategy. The key goal of this role is to lead the fundamental understanding of some critical C&T technologies and the exploration and development of relevant new product technologies that will enable and unlock the transformational growth of the C&T business in the future. The role will be responsible for the delivery of technical breakthroughs and new technologies that will be critical delivering C&T business growth and supply strategy. The role key interfaces are Innovation Program Leaders, Waltham Pet care sciences, Wet and Dry GICs, Global Supply and Global Commercial teams.
What are we looking for?
University degree in science or engineering or similar technical field.
3 to 5 years of job experience in the areas of product or process development, engineering or a technically related discipline – ideally in a number of these areas over the period of time
Experience within an R&D function in FMCG
Excellent interpersonal skills, e.g. communication, relations building, networking, team spirit.
Experience in recipe or formulation design
Project Management & Risk Management skills, working with multiple internal stakeholders
What will be your key responsibilities?
Responsible to develop fundamental understanding of current and new technologies / products / recipes / processes. The job holder may focus expertise on some or all of these technical areas
Responsible for Technical Project Leadership on high complexity projects, effectively managing delivery to time, cost and quality whilst working with and influencing key stakeholders
Responsible for delivery of raw material, recipe and process solutions and capabilities required by the business programmes. This can either be as a partnership with the Global / Regional Programme teams or as part of a global capability technology platform project
Responsible to work in close co-operation with the Global / Regional Programme Leaders and Project Leaders, with Global Engineering, and the specialized contacts in departments e.g. Marketing, Commercial, Supply and CMI/CTI to evaluate capabilities required for new ideas and concepts.
Responsible to work on continuous personal development regarding the latest raw material / process technology developments in order to remain informed about the most up-to-date relevant technologies to C&T
Responsible to proactively manage Intellectual Property risks and opportunities. Work with our patent attorneys to draft patents for new & novel technical breakthroughs
Responsible to effectively manage their TRL projects in line with our quality standards including, project risks, legal & regulatory requirements, safety guidelines, creation of CSF’s, experimental plans and meeting milestones and timelines. and to inform and influence the project team.
Responsible for development of new capabilities which deliver to defined consumer & customer benefits.
Responsible for providing training and support to other associates in the technical fields in which the job holder has expertise
Responsible for communication (both written and verbal) of key project / technical breakthroughs and findings.
Responsible for the effective management of and delivery of objectives managed through external establishments
Responsible for the effective partnering of internal network to deliver project milestones and deliverables
