BACKGROUND
To complement the External Manufacturing Quality AssuranceTeam, we are recruiting for this position. This role reports to the Sr. External Manufacturing Quality Manager Cindy Moons. This role sits within our Regional Mars Wrigley Quality & Food Safety and R&D team.
THE JOB
The purpose of the job is to work proactively with Mars Wrigley External Manufacturers (both Co-packers & Co-manufacturers) to ensure consistent delivery of Quality products and compliance to MARS’ Quality & Food Safety Standards. A Key aspect of this job is to ensure that the External Manufacturers in your portfolio are compliant to the MARS External Manufacturing Quality Management (EMQM) Standard for all services and products provided. This role plays an important role in activating new product & packaging initiatives at External Manufacturers and will support the business to deliver products which meet MARS Q&FS and legal requirements. To achieve this, you will work in close cooperation with internal stakeholders including Product Innovation, Packaging Development, SRA, Site & Regional Q&FS, Activity Management, Commercial and IE.
KEY OUTPUTS
In this role you will:
Deliver MARS EMQM Standard compliance and drive other Mars Quality initiatives in the External Manufacturer network. This includes External Manufacturer approval, product risk assessment, product verification & audits.
Lead performance management and Continuous Improvement initiatives with External Manufacturers.
Support implementation of new products and packaging/ seasonal projects at External Manufacturers.
Create technical documentation for our externally manufactured products and the communication and approval of this with MWC’s External Manufacturers.
Managing any non-conformities at External Manufacturers and, where necessary, lead the PRIMP process.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Academic education in food science/ technology or related subject.
Experience in working in a Quality or Food Safety role in food industry or related industries.
Experience in auditing. Preferably Lead auditor qualified
Strong communicator & relationship builder with good commercial awareness and supplier management skills
Proven and effective project management & organising experience.Visible passion, leadership and behaviours in line with Mars’ first principle – Quality.
Key Skills include:
HACCP, ISO, and quality & food safety management systems
PRIMP
Risk assessment & management
Basic Food microbiology, analytical chemistry and sensory methods
Knowledge on chocolate processes preferred
Mars Leadership Capabilities: Standing alone, Peer relationships, Managing & Measuring work, Perspective, Dealing with Ambiguity.
Can travel EU wide for team, supplier and internal meetings- est. 20% travel.
