Opportunity

The Maersk Asia Pacific (APA) Procurement team is seeking an Assistant Procurement Manager to independently lead complex sourcing projects, develop and implement end-to-end sourcing strategies, and drive key initiatives across cross-functional teams.

Based in Manila, Philippines, this role reports to the Country Procurement Manager and focuses on Logistics and Services (LnS) Procurement, including Landside Transportation (trucking, barge, rail), customs brokerage, domestic distribution, value-added services, and contract logistics (construction, repairs, and equipment purchase).

The ideal candidate brings solid experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, with a strong grasp of cost drivers and proven project management capabilities. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as this role partners with teams locally, regionally, and globally to advance Maersk’s strategic growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for optimizing the procurement spend across the contract logistic procurement.

  • Manages procurement projects, as per the Six Souring Steps across a wide range of procurement areas with responsibility for stated regions

  • Engage with the procurement stakeholders in the whole procurement community globally as needed.

  • Develop and oversee contract logistics /real estate procurement management frameworks to help ensure cost leadership, compliance and best in class supplier performance.

  • Perform supplier market analysis and organize market intelligence for spend within specific sub-regions, and benchmarking Maersk cost competition and ensuring cost leadership.

  • Responsible for supplier relationship management, building strong relations with the vendors to drive value through the supply chain

  • Act as a point of escalation relating to dispute and issue resolution.

  • Some domestic travel across sites must be expected

What we are looking for:

A solution-oriented person as well as a resilient team player who is goal-orientated and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work under minimal supervision, who has:

  • Has extensive experience within Procurement is preferred

  • Ideally a Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

  • Experience within Warehousing Distribution and Construction would be an advantage.

  • Experience within Supplier Relationship Management, supply chain and & Contract Management

  • Experience with digital procurement tools will be an advantage

  • Excellent stakeholder management and strong communication skills

  • Comfortable with working in an ambiguous environment, with an agile mindset

  • Customer and process improvement mindset.

  • Demonstrated market knowledge in landside transportation and/or logistics and services procurement and/or cold chain and contract logistics within Philippines Area

  • Track record of leading complex sourcing projects

  • Customer mindset- an understanding of how customer needs relate to procurement activities

  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • High sense of Integrity & Compliance

  • Good English communication
