Job Description

How insurance is underwritten here hasn't changed in 300 years – until now. At Ki, we are genuinely solving problems that haven’t been solved with technology in the insurance space. We are building the first fully digital and data-led insurance platform in the London Market. Ki is used by the world’s leading insurance brokers to provide cover for their clients against some of the planet’s biggest risks. We are the first movers in this space. Think challenger bank, but for complex risks like hurricanes and natural disasters.

Having reached c.$1bn of Gross Written Premium in the first three years of trading, and becoming a Top 20 Lloyd’s of London syndicate, Ki is launching a Technology Services function and Transformation Programme to enhance our technological capabilities and streamline processes. The programme will transform Ki’s internal-facing technology services across all business functions, including Actuarial & Risk, Underwriting & Distribution, Finance, HR, Legal, Operations, Claims and IT.

We are a forward-thinking, dynamic company with a solid financial foundation and exciting growth plans. At the forefront of the insurance industry transformation, we leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver innovative solutions to our clients. Our mission is to revolutionize the insurance landscape, and we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and contribute to our multi-million-pound transformation programme.

Ki is a collective of insurance and tech experts working together to build a new approach to risk. We're transforming a traditional industry using technology and data. Our guiding philosophy is to create something excellent for our customers, and we're looking for ambitious self-starters to join our team.

Purpose of the Role

We’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst to support our Core Technology squads with understanding their customer’s needs and ensuring delivery of technology solutions to meet those. In this role, you will work closely with internal Ki customers and stakeholders to bridge the gap their pain points and areas that would make the biggest impact using the technology solutions that our agile squads will develop.

This role will involve supporting our agile squads with prioritisation based on the requirements you have gathered and working with them to understand the right technology solutions for these. For example, our customers want to be self-sufficient when it comes to extracting and analysing their data, so you would need to understand the right tools (such as a BI tool and a data catalogue) that will address their needs, integrate well with our technology stack, as well as consider the long term ownership model/processes to manage these tools effectively.

Key accountabilities:

Requirements gathering
•Identifying, documenting and understanding pain points and the most impactful problems to solve with clear technology and/or data targeted outcomes
•Analysing existing business or operational processes, surface common trends across use-cases, performing and documenting gap analysis against target states, categorise potential requirement in terms of urgency and impact
•Working closely with our agile squads to make sure these requirements are well understood
•Developing and maintaining appropriate documentation as required including user requirements, use cases, and system to process flows.

Stakeholder sessions & management
•Facilitating workshops with business/customers and act as an interface between technology/data teams and the broader organisation.
•Running feedback sessions with users / customers to understand pain points and identify new areas of opportunity for development
•Supporting agile squads with backlog definition, refinement and grooming of items based on understanding of business and customer needs, focusing on those areas that drive user and business value
•Facilitating communication and collaboration between the business and agile squads teams throughout the development lifecycle.
•Working closely with agile squads, tech leads and customers to ensure solutions align with requirements and timelines and identify and resolve issues, risks, and dependencies that would impact delivery.

Support procurement, implementation and adoption of technology solutions
•Helping drive adoption of new solutions, supporting with rollout plans and identifying key training requirements, as well support for defining these solutions will operate in their target state
•Supporting feasibility, cost benefit and procurement for technology solutions (including in house vs vendor) and provide recommendations
•Keeping up to date with industry trends and innovations that would provide opportunities to support the problems we are solving at Ki
•Fostering a culture that embed Ki’s values in the data and technology capabilities

This is a hands-on role, and you will be critical to the rollout of solutions and ensuring adoption of these across Ki, and you will be using your technical knowledge to confidently interact with engineers and analysts as well as non-technical stakeholders.

If you are looking for a role in which you can utilise your planning, managing and execution of data and technology solutions, and make real impact in an organisation, this could be the role for you!
