Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Regulatory Accountant

Who are we?

Ki is the biggest global insurance tech company you’ve never heard of, unless you’ve been looking to insure a satellite, wind farm or music festival recently.
We launched in 2021 on the back of a fund raise that delivered $500m of investment, making us one the largest fintech start-ups that year. Our investors were excited about the fact we were revolutionising the way a 333 year-old industry was working. Having written over $400m of GWP in 2021, we have continued to rapidly scale, with 200% YoY growth to the end of June 2022. Together with partners at Google and UCL we developed Ki and created a platform that helps insurance brokers cover risks in a fast and frictionless way. We’re continuing to lead the charge on the digitisation of this market and that’s where you come in - we need more excellent minds to work with us to realise this goal and create more opportunities. If helping us transform a multi-billion global industry sounds exciting to you, read on.

What you will be working on

The Ki Finance Team sits at the heart of the company and is currently enjoying a phase of rapid growth as we reinvent the model for finance within insurance. The team is focussed on driving business insight, supporting key strategic planning processes and contributing to strategic initiatives as set out by the Ki EMC.

Within finance, the Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and submission of statutory returns for Lloyd’s (including Solvency II returns), local regulators and statutory accounts for Ki’s Lloyd’s Syndicate as well as Syndicate related legal entities. You’ll also have the opportunity to prepare these requirements for Ki, train and mentor direct report/s whilst providing assistance and support to the Senior Regulatory Reporting Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities.

Being a team player with the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst also having the ability to adapt to changing requirements, will allow you to be a success in an already successful team.

You’ll be an ambitious self-starter with the willingness to challenge the status quo and implement change where necessary. Ideally, you will have a relevant accountancy qualification along with previous experience within the commercial insurance sector (Lloyd’s market desirable) and have an exceptional understanding of current industry standards and regulatory requirements.

The day to day….

You’ll use your expertise to own and be responsible for the preparation and review of regulatory returns and statutory accounts for Ki Syndicate 1618 as well as the reviewing of regulatory returns and statutory accounts for the other Syndicate pillars, assisting them with the completion of deliverables as and when necessary to deliver on team objectives. Remaining up to date with changes in regulatory reporting regimes and, where necessary, provide support to the Senior Manager in assessing the impact of such changes. For your direct reports you will assist with their personal development, providing encouragement, motivation and guidance, including providing on the job training and technical support.

Our culture

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at Ki. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought and social background bring richness to our working environment. You’ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals.
