We are looking for an Internal IT and Platforms Manager here at INSHUR, working in a hybrid role between home and our Brighton office. You’ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories, including the US, UK, and Netherlands, and new European countries and US states as we expand.

Supported by (and reporting to) the Head of Engineering, you'll be joining a friendly team of 30+ talented engineers who are empowered to design and implement solutions that help us deliver quality products, improve operations and increase performance and efficiency.

What you'll do

As our Internal IT and Platforms Manager you will be responsible for our internal technology platforms which we run at INSHUR. You’ll own the requirements for our internal digital integrations and help to identify the right solutions to meet these. You’ll work closely with other departments to understand and develop their needs, whether it is our Helpdesk, Underwriters, Marketing, Claims, Finance or any others.

You’ll build a team responsible for getting the best out of our internal platforms who feed the right requirements into the right team at the right time.

You’ll be instrumental in developing clear roadmaps, defining data flows and work on product features for IT and other departments. You’ll work on supporting requirements around all our internal platforms, ensuring we are not only buying but also internally building software that is future-proofed, hitting all our requirements for both today and tomorrow. This is a brand new role and you will be responsible for defining how we implement our digital roadmap, involving significant stakeholder management right across the business.

You will own and manage our TechOps department, and help us on our journey to ISO27001 and SOC2 accreditation. This includes managing our platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Google Workspace, our call centre (Amazon Connect) and CRM technologies (Hubspot, Kustomer) etc.

The below is a guideline of skills that we think would make you successful in this role. However, our hiring process is much more around aptitude and passion so don’t worry if you’ve not used a particular tool or checked off all the skills and experience listed above.

  • Are able to gather requirements from many different stakeholders and turn these into requirements that are commonly understood
  • Can demonstrate where you’ve created and delivered clear roadmaps under tight deadlines
  • Have helped a fast-growing business roll out and integrate internal tools such as CRM, Customer Support, Finance systems etc
  • Have experience in managing an internal IT function that needs to support a mixture of highly technical and less technical end-users
  • Have experience managing cloud call centre applications (Amazon Connect preferred) as well as managing an internal IT function that spans both USA and UK
  • Have experience working in a highly regulated industry to ensure a highly secure, yet flexible IT environment.
  • Understand that iteration is more important than getting it right first time
  • Know the importance of stakeholder management.
  • Understand the value of building for the future
  • Think about problems in innovative ways and aren’t afraid to question the status quo

We are based in beautiful Brighton - sea, chips and seagulls included, although we are currently working 100% remotely. Post-pandemic we will likely be transitioning to a hybrid office and home-based model with travel to the office once or twice a week as required.
