Job Description

Jitter, an indie dev studio is redefining how streamers and their audiences interact by turning live streams into interactive game experiences. Check out some of the latest examples!

We’re building a platform where Twitch viewers don’t just watch—they play a meaningful role in shaping the action. From chaotic, chat-controlled gameplay to streamer-driven challenges, Jitter enhances engagement, drives virality, and creates new revenue opportunities for creators.

Imagine streamers seamlessly hosting interactive worlds, viewers collaborating or competing in real-time, and audiences influencing gameplay like never before.

We want you to help us build the future of live, interactive gaming!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Web Infrastructure Development: Build and maintain user-facing web features, including player profiles, purchasing systems, and item/cosmetic management.

  • Steam Integration: Work with Steam’s APIs to enable purchasing and in-game currency transactions, ensuring secure and reliable integration.

  • E-commerce & Monetization Features: Design and implement backend systems for in-game cosmetics, premium memberships, and battle passes.

  • Twitch Extension Support: Maintain and enhance the backend services that power our Twitch extension & Twitch integration, ensuring smooth interaction between streamers, viewers, and in-game events. As well as developing integration for other live streaming platforms such as Youtube.

  • Scalable Systems: Develop and optimize systems capable of handling thousands of concurrent users across web and in-game platforms.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Unreal Engine developers, game designers, and product managers to ensure a cohesive user experience.

  • User Data & Security: Ensure all systems follow best practices for data privacy, security, and performance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Frontend Expertise: Experience with SvelteKit or a willingness to learn it, as we use it for our Twitch extension UI and interactive overlays.

  • Backend Infrastructure: Strong understanding of Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects for handling event processing, real-time interactions, and scalable infrastructure.

  • Real-Time Systems: Experience with WebSockets and event-driven architectures, ensuring smooth game state synchronization between Twitch, the backend, and the game.

  • Scalability & Performance: Experience working with serverless environments (Cloudflare, AWS Lambda, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).

  • Database & State Management: Proficiency with distributed data handling, ensuring reliable and efficient storage and retrieval of session-based user data.

Bonus Points:

  • Understanding of Steam API, authentication and payment systems for in-game purchases and monetization.

  • Familiarity with Twitch API, PubSub, EventSub, and chat command integrations, enabling seamless streamer-audience interactions.

  • Experience working on interactive streaming games, live-service games, or multiplayer virtual spaces.

  • Knowledge of real-time game economy systems and monetization workflows.

While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
