Consumer Social Intern

Remote-first

Core hours 11–3

Dog friendly

Job Description

15 hours/week, 6 months, paid, UK remote

We’re thrilled that you’re interested in joining Impala as a Consumer Social Intern. We’re on a mission to change the travel industry for the better – rebuilding its infrastructure from the ground up. This is a huge task that requires the brightest minds from travel, tech and beyond, and we’ve already made huge progress in providing technology that makes life - and business - much easier for travel companies.

We’re now preparing to launch Wagaway, a best-in-show consumer travel brand that helps dog owners find and book hotels that welcome four-legged guests. And this is just the first in a series of new ventures that will showcase what Impala’s technology is capable of. That’s why we’re looking for a Social Intern: to help grow the presence and reach of our new travel brands, while honing your skills at the heart of a marketing team who have built brands including Facebook, Airbnb, Expedia, Snowplow, Stylist and Verkada. The role is initially for 15 hours a week, with the possibility to increase over the length of the placement. There is a lot of flexibility about when these hours are worked. It is a paid role and remote first: you can be based anywhere in the UK.

We're proud to be Tempo’s number 4 in London's best startups to work at in 2022, one of Otta’s 50 fastest-growing companies in London to accelerate your career in 2021, and featured in Sifted's Top European Startups in 2021. With backing from the investors behind the likes of Monzo, Airbnb and Deliveroo, and a product that’s attracting global attention, now’s the time to join Impala if you’re looking for a role at the forefront of reimagining a multi-trillion dollar industry.

Daily responsibilities

At its core, this role will be focused on daily activities to grow our social presence and following:

  • Plan, source and draft social posts for consumer brands across all relevant channels (including but not limited to Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and Pinterest)
  • Identify and execute newsjacking opportunities, relevant to each B2C brand
  • Manage our regular posting to B2C channels
  • Interact with other accounts in a way that strategically develops our voice, presence and following
  • Escalate customer service/reputational risk issues

Strategic projects

As part of your development, there are also some longer term projects to be undertaken during the course of the placement:

  • Advise on new/emerging/relevant channels where each brand should be present
  • Recommend and implement automated posting tools to align with optimal posting times for our audience
  • Advise on our most fruitful engagement strategy: interactive posts, liking/following/commenting on other users
  • Develop tools to identify and follow the right accounts, so we can identify the right newsjacking opportunities
  • Develop relationships with other brands/accounts which can be mutually beneficial to Impala’s B2C brands

Experience and requirements

  • Proven background in growing a social presence across a variety of travels
  • Interest in the travel industry and trends (not just going travelling!)
  • Impeccable written English
  • Background in marketing (either academic or professional ) is a plus but not essential

What you’ll get in return

  • Fully paid internship
  • Remote-first flexible working
  • Access to a very talented and experienced marketing team who are excited to grow your skills
  • Hands-on experience and autonomy to experiment and learn, including launching new brands and new channels
  • Occasional travel to our London office
