Senior Finance Business Partner - R&D

Job Description

THE ROLE

The R&D Senior Business Partner will act as the main Finance point of contact with the R&D (Engineering & Product) organisation, providing financial inputs into business cases, ongoing project management and cost controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner across the business, working with all different departments of the business to assist in budget creation, forecast processes and share best practices
  • Challenge assumptions and influence stakeholders to improve business performance while considering financial implications
  • Analyse complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes and highlight any issues
  • Assess business performance and strive for a deeper understanding of business levers, costs and underlying drivers
  • Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyse trends in key performance indicators highlighting commercial opportunities and risks
  • Translate and disseminate complex financial information to other areas of the business, across exec and senior management
  • Support the Tax team by collating resource and project data to support the annual R&D tax claim
  • Responsible for producing the R&D reporting, including monthly forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis

REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), with 5+ years' experience working in a Business Partnering role. You’ll have extensive experience working with both large and highly complex Engineering and Product teams, ideally in a fast-paced (startup or scale-up) environment.

In addition, we’re looking for candidates who have:

  • Reported to senior stakeholders (CTO, CPO level) and comfortable presenting at board level
  • Experience in cost management and variance analysis
  • Experience in data aggregation and visualisation (preferred but not required)
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills and experience in financial modelling
