Web Developer

Job Description

The role is for a Web Developer who knows PHP and JavaScript. You’ll be part of an agile team responsible for developing our independent web platform and applications using the latest frameworks and technologies. You’ll get opportunities to learn and progress and contribute your ideas to help drive forward what we do and how we do it.

Day to day we’ll trust you to:

  • Deliver code into production, working to agreed standards.
  • Help deploy and support our applications, keeping them performing and available, including a willingness to be part of a paid on-call rota.
  • Work with Product Owners, Designers, Architects and Testers to ensure we’re delivering the best experience to our customers.
  • Help advance our technology strategies, so our platform remains innovative, accessible and secure.

You’ll need to have:

  • Demonstrable experience with the technologies used at Emerald, including PHP, JavaScript, HTML, SCSS, git, AWS
  • Knowledge of frameworks including Laravel, VueJS, Bootstrap
  • Approaches to meet non-functional requirements, including security, performance, accessibility and usability
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, and experience of working in agile development teams
  • Ability to work with areas that support Web development including Quality Assurance, DevOps, Architecture, UI/UX
  • Good communication skills, including influencing and negotiating
  • An active interest in new technologies and how to apply them
