We have a new vacancy at Emerald Publishing! A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Marketing Manager (Author Marketing) to join us and play a key role in our Content Acquisition & Community Engagement team



This role is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and analysis of marketing activities for Emerald’s publications, driving authorship for our journals, books, and cases in order to develop Emerald’s position as publisher of choice for business, applied and social sciences, including through the lens of our Emerald Goals; then ensuring appropriate execution and adjustment to support the achievement of Emerald’s commercial content strategy.

Day to day we’ll trust you to:   


Develop and communicate the overall marketing strategy for your product and market segments for our Author Community Engagement Marketing, utilising the best strategies to achieve growth in authorship for our key subject disciplines and UN SDGs aligned to our Emerald Goals. Target market segments with integrated marketing campaigns to generate demand and convert into leads


· Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders across content acquisition, community engagement, sales, product management and the wider marketing function to ensure there is buy-in for future marketing campaigns and resources are maximised.


· Create a variety of content to drive awareness and submissions. Own the appropriate social media channels for your area and ensure appropriate content is deployed, either directly or indirectly through the team.


· Analyse and report on traffic, MQLs, conversions, attribution, voucher usage for transformative agreements and R&P deals and pipeline growth for authorship.


· Line manage & support a Marketing Manager to deliver a subject and Goals marketing strategy with clear objectives in line with the global marketing strategy and the Content Strategy

You’ll need to have:   


Previous experience as a marketing manager, ideally in a related industry; publishing or academic experience is highly desirable.


· Advanced knowledge of marketing strategies, with the ability to create a marketing plan that builds awareness and drives leads.


· Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate


· The ability to translate strategy into actions and key deliverables, encouraging collaborative working in a matrixed environment.
