  • The Role:

    As Depop's availability, performance, and reliability needs continue to grow, we're looking for an Engineering Manager (EM) to lead our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. You'll report into the Head of Platform, and be supported by a team of experienced engineers. You'll be focused on the growth of the team, getting things done, and promoting our positive, supportive, and inclusive culture.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead a team of three experienced engineers. You'll be responsible for their success and happiness, with a particular focus on their professional development; 1-1s will be a super important medium to support this objective.
    • Develop working relationships with our closely-related peer teams and delivery- and operations-focused colleagues; collaborate with teams across the engineering organisation to ensure cohesion across projects and roadmaps.
    • Iterate on our recruitment process and work with our People and Talent colleagues to grow our teams.
    • Help the team to organise, plan, and make work visible. Incrementally improve our agile practice to drive greater maturity.
    • Advocate for your team and engineering to raise awareness on team health, ensure inclusion, and drive positive change.
    • Establish and maintain an inclusive, respectful, and diverse culture to ensure that all voices are heard.
    • Foster an environment of continuous learning and continuous improvement.

    Requirements:

    • You have a background in site reliability engineering within a primarily cloud-based environment, or a desire to grow into this area.
    • You have experience of managing people, or the aspiration, enthusiasm, and empathy to do so.
    • You're able to balance competing concerns and can collaborate with others to align around any given decision; you're able to work with stakeholders with varying perspectives to successfully deliver on planned work.
    • Know how to drive positive interactions throughout your team and drive positive change throughout our sphere of influence.
    • You have a passion for building a team that is user obsessed and product orientated.
    • You align with our "Depop DNA": putting our community first, being adaptable to the varying needs of our people while creating an inclusive, impactful and collaborative working environment.
