We’re looking for a Compliance Manager to join us on a part time basis. You’ll have the flexibility to work a 22.5 hour week over 3, 4 or 5 days to suit your needs.

Founded in 2017 by our CEO, James, and co-founder, Callum, we’re an award-winning technology startup with a mission to make driving fairer and we think it’s time that car insurance was done differently for low mileage drivers. With the UK’s first real-time pay-by-mile car insurance policy, we’re bringing the same level of on-demand convenience to car ownership that people now expect from taxis and take-away food.

Inclusion is at the core of our business and our hiring, we want to make everyone feel safe to be themselves, and know that we will never compromise on that.

What we believe in.

We challenge with kindness, making sure everyone feels safe and included. We support each other.

We take time to learn so that we can improve ourselves, our colleagues and our products. We’re not afraid to make mistakes if it gives us the opportunity to grow.

We’re clear in our vision. We’re happy to challenge the status quo if it will help us make things better.

We own up, we don’t blame. We’re humble enough to take feedback on board, and respectful enough to give it. The next big idea could come from anywhere, so everyone’s opinion matters.

We consider before we start, whether that’s interrogating details to save confusion down the line, or getting help from others. We make decisions using data, not opinions, and we use our time wisely, always staying focused on the end goal.

The role

We’re looking for a Compliance Manager to join us, which we’re really excited about. Reporting to our Head of Risk & Compliance, you will be integral to supporting By Miles growth plans as the compliance and risk gatekeeper, managing our ‘compliance by design’ approach. You’ll have specific responsibility for the FCA regulatory landscape, insurance product governance and feeding into risk management and continual improvement across the compliance spectrum.

You’ll be managing our regulatory forecasting and roadmap, keeping up to date with what’s new and communicating the impacts to the business while supporting on risk and compliance activities working with cross functional project teams.

With the support of our brilliant Customer Experience team, you’ll have ownership of the complaints reporting process. With a continual improvement mindset, you’ll maintain the process against the FCA regulations, run root cause analysis, action improvements and feedback and provide training to enable our teams across the business.

It’s a really exciting time to be a part of By Miles (we know they all say that, but we actually mean it - we’ve grown by 50% within the last year and expect to continue expanding quickly). This is a great opportunity to join our Risk and Compliance team to help fuel our growth ambitions in 2022 and beyond, including our vision to make compliance invisible. You’ll help us shape our compliance by design program at a time of rapid growth as we strive to make By Miles become a household name in the UK.

As advocates for flexible working, the role will be 22.5 hours per week (the equivalent to 3 full time working days). You’ll have the choice to work the hours required for the role in a way that suits you, including regular working from home. This can be over 3, 4 or 5 days working week. We appreciate that people have other important elements in their lives, and we work hard to make sure that they can prioritise things as they need to.
