Comprised of our Head of Philanthropy, Senior Trust Manager, and Trust Officer, the team is looking to build on recent fundraising successes to achieve transformational growth over the next five years. The Trust Assistant will play an important role in this ambition, leading on fundraising from smaller trusts, supporting the Senior Manager and Officer with medium and large trusts, and providing key administrative support to ensure that the team runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Raising funds from small trusts

· Maintain and develop existing relationships with current and prospective trust donors giving up to £10,000 per year

· Manage and grow our small trust mailing programme

· Develop compelling and creative fundraising copy to demonstrate Blood Cancer UK’s work

· Develop and implement stewardship communications, tailored to our small trust funders

· Communicate effectively with small trusts, including by phone and over email

Prospect research

Carry out desk-based research to identify potential new trust and foundation funders

· Draft and update donor profiles and briefings

· Record relevant information onto the CRM database

Proposal development and grant reporting

· Work with colleagues across the organisation to support the development of proposals, applications and reports for trusts and foundations

· Own the trust team reporting schedule to ensure that Blood Cancer UK’s funder reporting requirements are submitted to deadlines and in line with funders’ criteria

Gift administration

· Work closely with the Supporter Relations Team to ensure that trust gifts are acknowledged and recorded correctly

· Prepare and send out thank you letters in a timely fashion

· Ensure that donation letters and grant terms and conditions are recorded

Database administration

· Update donor contact details, communication preferences, contact histories, and other details on CRM database in line with Data Protection legislation and procedures

Trust team support

· When appropriate, support the Senior Trust Manager and Trust Officer with securing and stewarding medium and large trusts and foundations

· Provide administrative support for the trust team, including regularly monitoring the team’s email inbox

· Coordinate logistics for events and meetings

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Where necessary, support the wider Partnerships and Philanthropy team

· Fully commit to Blood Cancer UK’s values

· Stay informed of developments within blood cancer research and of the needs of people affected by blood cancer

· Keep well-informed of fundraising trends, particularly within the trusts and foundations sector
