In this role, you’ll ensure that people affected by blood cancer have access to the highest quality information and support. You’ll work very closely with people affected by blood cancer to research and create new information products across different media. We are insight-driven, so you’ll have complete autonomy over your projects, following your research and being creative in designing the products that people need.

The role is for one year initially, with the aim to extend to 2 and then 3 years.

Our mission is to beat blood cancer within a generation. Our health information is a vital service to people affected by blood cancer, and a key way in which we reach more people affected by blood cancer to support them and their families.

Key Responsibilities


· Research different types of blood cancer and how they are treated.

· Research what the blood cancer experience is like, using resources like our online forum and interviewing people with blood cancer.

· Produce new information resources about blood cancer which work together seamlessly online and offline.

· Collaborate closely with people affected by blood cancer to ensure we are truly meeting their needs.

· Collaborate with the target audience to ensure the format, language, content and design of information resources is engaging and supportive.

· Work with the Design team to agree the layout of booklets and photo requirements.

· Liaise with healthcare professionals to check clinical content.

· Write up personal blood cancer stories for the website and to feature in booklets.

· Produce new online information about blood cancer and update existing web pages.


• Promote Blood Cancer UK’s vision, mission and core values

• We’re all fundraisers. This is slightly different for all roles, and your team will have fundraising KPIs and objectives we all work to

• Attend and assist at Blood Cancer UK events and activities as required (NB this involves evening and weekend work)

• Be an effective ambassador for Blood Cancer UK at any activity you attend

• All staff are expected to adhere to Blood Cancer UK’s policies and procedures

• Do any other reasonable things your manager needs you to do

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

· Experience working with health information across a range of channels or equivalent transferable experience

· Curiosity and interest in how people cope with a life-changing diagnosis

· Research skills including fact-checking and assessing sources

· Ability to translate complex medical information into plain English

· Experience developing products or services from conception to delivery

· Excellent copywriting skills

· Committed to user testing products throughout the process

· Sensitive interviewing skills, able to demonstrate empathy with people with blood cancer
