About the role

Reporting to the VP of Technology, you’ll be responsible for implementing and maintaining frameworks and processes that ensure a strong overall security posture for Blexr. You’ll work across business teams and product teams to ensure a strong awareness of security concerns, and enable security by design in their practices. You’ll bring your wealth of expertise on Information and Cyber security to ensure that teams are able to move quickly, whilst maintaining a strong security posture. You’ll also work closely with the wider organisation to ensure our Enterprise Applications and working practices have align to security best practice and to mitigate common pitfalls. And when things go wrong, and they will, you’ll take the lead in creating a safe space for responding to security issues - bringing the organisation together to work the problem, get to a resolution and ultimately ensure the company follows a path of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the Information Security domain within Blexr - building out a domain that focuses on security in depth, and local awareness and alignment on security issues
  • Consult with and be a subject matter expert for Product Development teams to ensure development and alignment to security best practices.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of current security threats - and ensure the organisation is aware of these
  • Develop strategies for ensuring Enterprise and Customer facing systems are kept up to date and secure
  • Build and apply a common framework / approach for Information Security within Blexr
  • Implement tooling and capabilities to identify potential data loss situations, and apply appropriate mitigations
  • Implement tooling and capabilities to automate and monitor our security posture across customer facing services and the enterprise as a whole
  • Recommend and lead on process changes across business functions to reduce the impact of potential security issues
  • Ensuring regular training and security awareness for all folks across Blexr
  • Maintain clear security risk register, and provide regular updates to VP of Technology and C-Suite on changes and mitigations

About you

  • Several years of experience working in Information Security, preferably in similar Digital organisations who have a wide portfolio of products and are focused on growth
  • Highly pragmatic, but empathetic approach to security - with demonstrable experience of empowering others and creating safe spaces for people to grow their understanding of security concerns and needs
  • Working understanding of Security frameworks and approaches, - particularly Cyber Essentials, OWASP and others
  • Relevant certifications (e.g.: CISSP, CISM or similar) and history of ongoing professional development
  • Working knowledge of security standards such as ISO27001
  • Strong communicator who can make difficult security concepts accessible and engaging to a variety of audience
  • Demonstrable experience managing investigation, containment, resolution and improvement activities
  • Understanding of a wide range of regulatory requirements for security - including reporting requirements for information security incidents in different jurisdictions (GDPR-EU and GDPR-UK are a must)
  • Experience working in environments that have deep partnerships with 3rd parties, and ensuring a high degree of compliance to Information Security guidelines

  • Experience building or running small, impactful InfoSec/CyberSec team
