Job title: Senior Systems Architect

Location: Portsmouth – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements as well – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £50,000 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Participate in Combat System architecting activities including workshops and formal meetings as required by the customer and external stakeholders
  • Take ownership of tasking when allocated as Task/Team lead and drive through to conclusion utilising allocated resource appropriately
  • Conduct analysis in support of modelling (MBSE) activities to establish implications on service based architecture vision and capture output
  • Keep abreast of CS advances and major system changes in order to remain current and competent (identify and attend training acquaints and in house briefings as appropriate)
  • Identify suitable analysis training needs as new capabilities are identified and good practice to daily work through utilisation of the Shared Records area and keeping good track of documentation amendments
  • Deliver high quality outputs to meet demand of time and budget

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience of architecting methods/toolsets and MBSE
  • An understanding of systems engineering, approaches, processes and procedures

Desirable:

  • Experience of Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, System Composer
  • Architecting frameworks and system modelling experience such as; TOGAF, MODAF, DODAF
  • Requirements management

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The NCSISS (Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Service) Team:

The MISC located on Portsdown Hill, is a specialist facility providing vital support for Royal Navy warships whilst researching future Combat Systems and Technologies. Shaped like a Type 45 destroyer, the MISC is a unique building that now benefits from new facilities including a state of the art visualisation suite. The site offers a range of staff amenities, including a modern canteen with outdoor seating that offers spectacular views across Hampshire’s rolling countryside, a pool table and a gym.
