Job title: Senior Combat Systems Engineer

Location: Barrow, Bristol, Frimley or Weymouth

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation
  • Understand the contractual and performance requirements for navigation systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities
  • Support the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities for navigation systems
  • Provide technical support to shipbuilder installation and/or integration activities (included in-service refitting authorities)
  • Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable Systems Engineering experience, including managing requirements and acceptance activities, systems design and integration
  • An understanding of lifecycle management
  • HNC / HND or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience of creation of technical documentation
  • Change management experience

Desirable:

  • Understanding of DOORs and Enterprise Architect
  • Previous navigational experience/knowledge (e.g. experience in Inertial systems/GPS systems/Gyro systems)

The Integrated Combat Systems Team:

Would you like to play a key role in the development of navigation systems for the UK’s new submarine platform? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer at our sites in either Barrow, Bristol, Weymouth or Frimley.

The team will be helping design and develop safety critical navigation systems for the Astute submarine class. These systems are safety-critical and mission-critical and provide cutting edge capability to the Royal Navy.

This role will provide you with the ability to gain experience of combat system interfacing of navigational systems and provide the opportunity to work on a high-profile engineering programme, enabling you to interact with several internal and external stakeholders including the Ministry of Defence.
