About the OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Security Governance & Assurance Specialist who can balance rigour with creativity. You’ll bring expertise in frameworks such as PSPF, DSPF, and DISP, and translate them into clear, practical processes that build trust across the organisation.

This role is about more than compliance—it’s about fostering accountability, transparency, and ethical practice. You will design people‑first processes that enable innovation, strengthen resilience, and inspire confidence.

Ideally based at our Canberra Offices, we are also open to considering suitable candidates from other States.

You’ll support our Security business unit by aligning governance practices with our strategic vision, contributing to risk management and compliance strategies, and ensuring frameworks remain in step with key security policies. Direct expertise in PSPF/DSPF is an advantage, but we also welcome candidates with transferable skills and a commitment to learning.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and enhancing governance frameworks aligned with strategy and evolving standards.
  • Lead assurance activities that go beyond box‑ticking.
  • Translate complex requirements into clear, actionable workflows.
  • Partner with teams to embed security into daily operations.
  • Provide assurance through audits, reporting, and defensible evidence.
  • Maintain oversight of compliance while identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Facilitate clear communication across all levels of the organisation.
  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives that refine governance practices.

About YOU

  • Australian citizen with eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance at Negative Vetting Level 2 (Essential).
  • Demonstrable experience in governance, risk management, or a closely related field, ideally within a complex organizational setting.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies.
  • Experience in governance, assurance, and protective security.
  • Superb communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Qualifications in governance, law, business administration, or equivalent training.
  • A deep commitment to ethical practices and continuous professional development, paired with an innovative mindset.

We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidate hesitate if they don’t tick all the boxes. If this role interests you, but you don’t meet all the criteria, we still encourage you to apply.
