Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Location: RAF Coningsby. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £37,356.00 + dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertake and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on an aircraft or components which may include, as appropriate, Aircraft Ground Handling, flight servicing’s, aircraft role changes, AD embodiments, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and/or functional/system test
  • Reviews operational performance of aircraft components & systems
  • Analyse and diagnose faults to components & assemblies, apply diagnostic skills & knowledge to effect repairs or modify equipment or suggest improvements to procedures
  • Ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and resolve any issues, escalate as required
  • Demonstrates a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately
  • Maintain personal task competencies for working on aircraft or components
  • Undertake support tasks within the Aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE and Functionally Mandated procedures (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling / test equipment etc.)
  • Receive On the Job training activities and maintain personal Log Book for currency and recency

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Proven experience including Type or Typhoon Q course, classed as fully competent with all required ‘Authorities’ in place
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar role required

Desirable

  • Demonstrating breadth of systems experience, currency & recency via a Log Book (electronic or paper) capturing skills, knowledge and authorities for working on Aircraft or in workshops
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or Military equivalent apprenticeship / qualifications
  • Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent
  • Aircraft platform training (on a/c requirement)

The Typhoon Maintenance Facility team:

The role will be based within TMF and involve working in conjunction with the RAF in performing the Maintenance, Repair, and Upgrade activities to meet the requirements of the UK Typhoon fleet as part of the TyTAN Managed Maintenance contracted service.

You will be working on cutting edge technology supporting the typhoon fleet around the world and working directly on the Aircraft alongside RAF.
