About the OPPORTUNITY

The Combat Systems Navigation and Aviation Systems Lead, as part of the Combat Systems Integration (CSI) Integrated Product Team (IPT), operates as part of the broader engineering team within the DDG Combat Systems Test Team. Operating in a collaborative environment with both the customer (CoA) and internally with DDG engineering teams to ensure implementation and verification of the DDG Combat System

More specifically, you will be

  • Lead the Combat System (CS) team responsible for the successful verification of Navigation and Aviation Elements.
  • Maintain close liaison with the FMS Integrated Test Team (ITT) to ensure continuous operation of the FMS test program
  • Develop, maintain and update documentation for the conduct of all activities involving Navigation and Aviation Elements.
  • Manage the team that maintains Navigation and Aviation Elements in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Ensure the team conducts all activities in accordance with all local processes and procedures
  • Prepare for and support the execution of major program milestones such as design reviews, test readiness and system readiness reviews.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for Navigation and Aviation Elements to enable rapid resolution of emergent issues.
  • Interact with specialty engineering disciplines, including but not limited to: Safety; Human Factors; Cyber; Topside and ILS for the purposes of achieving design assurance and holistic system compliance.

About YOU

  • Past exposure in the Integration, Test and Evaluation of CS Products into Naval Platforms or equivalent complex Military Systems having challenging constraints
  • Substantial experience working in an engineering project multi-disciplinary environment (preferably within the defence industry)
  • Experience in leading a team of Engineers and/or Technical Officers
  • Extensive working knowledge or demonstrable understanding in one or more of the C4ISREW or Combat System Warfare Domains (i.e. Anti-Air Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Surface Warfare) will be highly regarded.
  • Well-developed communication skills including the ability to prepare and present concise oral and written reports, briefings, updates and other documentation to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
