If so, this is your chance to join Anglian Water as a DSEAR Technician, supporting the safe operation of our assets and helping to ensure compliance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR). This is a developmental role designed to provide a pathway into a DSEAR Engineer position, offering hands-on experience in one of the UK’s leading water utilities.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a DSEAR Technician, you’ll work closely with the DSEAR Manager, Engineers, and site teams to support safety compliance across our operational assets. Your work will focus on remedial tasks, risk mitigation, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Replacement of ATEX electrical equipment
  • Supporting inspections at site and asset level to identify risks and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Assisting DSEAR Engineers with risk assessments and hazardous area classifications
  • Creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation for all completed work
  • Providing technical advice, coaching, and guidance to operational teams
  • Promoting and upholding a positive safety culture in line with Anglian Water’s behavioural safety principles
  • Participating in audits and encouraging best practice across the business

About You

You’ll bring a solid foundation in electrical systems and a keen interest in hazardous area safety. You are methodical, detail-oriented, and ready to grow your expertise in a fast-paced environment where your work directly contributes to safety and compliance.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Fully qualified electrician (ONC/OND/NVQ3 or equivalent)
  • Experience of electrical work in an industrial environment
  • CompEX 01-04 or 09-10 certification, or willingness to work towards it
  • Strong understanding of DSEAR principles and hazardous area documentation
  • Experience working in hazardous environments
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload independently
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office tools to document and present technical information
  • A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safe working practices

It would also be beneficial to have:

  • Previous experience supporting site inspections, risk assessments, or process safety initiatives
