Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Stress Engineer (d/f/m)

The successful applicant will join the Combat Aircraft Stress Team.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Providing stress support throughout different development phases from conceptual design to modifications and in-service support

  • Sizing of structural parts, components and installations made from metal and carbon fiber materials using state of the art analysis tools, FEM techniques and classic handbook methods

  • Authoring of analysis reports, qualification documents and compliance statements

  • Support of the Design Office and Mechanical System installation

  • Selection of manufacturing technologies, materials and standards during sizing

  • Definition and establishment of certification/qualification means of compliance

  • Participation in the development of technological areas of engineering and stress methods & tools

  • Manage allocated tasks and activities ensuring they are correctly executed to achieve required quality and customer time scales

Desired skills and qualifications

  • University Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent

  • 5+ years experience in Structural Analysis of airframe components, especially in composite materials

  • Wide experience in FEM and SW packages, especially Hyperworks and Nastran

  • Good knowledge of standard stress methods (e.g. HSB, Bruhn, ESDU, Roark & Young)

  • Knowledge of airframe qualification and certification requirements, preferred on military standards

  • Global understanding of Aircraft Development processes to support transversal activities in early project phases

  • Experience in stress analysis of pipe works or impact simulations is seen as a plus

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Fluent in English and German
